i think so? I believe they found an arsenal but im pretty sure he had never been convicted of a crime.
I mean define legal? Cant i walk into a gun shop and buy ammo without anything? So wouldn't that be legal? Or are you meaning he was using banned assault rifles or something?

And if thats the case, thats an argument that banning some weapons is pointless as well?

Mainly because it's not necessary. You don't need that. All you need to do is restrict violent people and make it easy for everybody else to avoid helping them.

I would fully support a $500 tax credit for passing a gun safety course.

Yeah, he's stupid. I get it. But poor people are being held to that same standard. And it's much more restrictive to the less fortunate.

Yes they were. He made sure of it. He was a millionaire who could have just modified his guns to full auto, but he chose to use bump stocks instead, presumably so that he was using all legal hardware.

I really don't think gun bans would help. These people were usually motivated and would have just done what it took to get a gun. If guns were banned the black market would be flooded.

The 2nd amendment isn't the problem, it's the money from the gun lobbyist distorting it's meaning and our laws surrounding it. Kyle Rittenhouse in not in any way shape or form part of a well regulated militia.

I'm not even sure it's the money from gun lobbyists, more that the members of the NRA vote however the NRA says they should.

How do you do that without a permitting process?

Driver safety course might be an even better use of the tax credits.

Bottom line. More laws and regulations for all gun owners. For criminals who don’t follow laws and rules anyway, the punishment needs to be so severe even the biggest dolts will reconsider. Like 1 strike and done. Wasn’t Rittenhouse 17 when this happened? How is this even a discussion? Kids get guns now? Cool cool.

You put a weapons restriction on anybody who should be restricted (felons, violent offenders, etc). You mark their state ID.
Anybody caught supplying, selling, lending, or providing weapons to these people get a huge fine, jail time, and their very own weapons restriction. Yay!

Sure, let's do it. Make it both.

Why do law abiding citizens who have never committed a crime get more laws and regulations? How is that going to help anything?

I've had my own shotgun since I was 11... Had a great time hunting duck, goose, grouse, pheasant, etc...
Never shot anybody with it though...

Because we are talking about a deadly weapon. We don’t give 11 year olds drivers licenses. People acting like “hey it’s a blender, we all should be able to have a blender” when it’s a firearm that kills people - including the gun owners themselves many times. We need to start treating them as such. America thinks they have this stupid god given right to carry a gun around like it’s a cell phone. It’s stupid.

11 year olds are not allowed to just carry guns around most places. We don't need additional laws for that.

In fact, most cities don't allow anybody to carry guns around on their person unless they have a permit.

Kids are not legally carrying guns around killing people. This is not a problem.

Legal gun owners have some of the lowest crime rates of anybody in the country. They are the last people who need more laws.

I think I’d rather have an 11 year old carrying one than a 17 year old wannabe tough guy who is just itching to kill someone. Walking down the middle of a street draped over his shoulder like it’s a fucking purse.

I hear that. But you get fucked up behavior with riots. That's not a normal thing.

However, if you improve the gini coefficient you get fewer riots as well...

It’s astounding how ignorant some people can be, but hey if those are THEIR moral guidelines then at least they aren’t mine.

Getting away with this will be a win for all the people who desire to kill others with guns as it is opening an avenue for it to be acceptable to do so.

I didn’t realize that we wanted kids who cannot own a gun to play judge, jury, and executioner.

That old fart is saying that they would have sentenced all victims… I’m sorry “rioters and looters” to death for what they were doing?

Since when the f*** is going vendetta in violence acceptable behavior?

Quite literally anyone who thinks it is - should probably chiggidy check themselves.

If they can’t see what a horrible precedent this situation sets. Perhaps they aren’t morally/ethically qualified to hold their position.

Like sorry man… The laws this kid violated. Sucks that he’s a kid. Mom should be charged equally. If she’s not then her kid should get it all. It should be life in prison. Maybe the kid can get out in 20 years with good behavior.

That’s to all the dummies who don’t realize that putting out fires and starting fires can look similar. You want Yosemite Sam deciding that your son/daughter deserved to die that night?

    It’s really that straight forward

Dude it was premeditated murder 100%

They were looking to kill somebody, illegally crossed state lines and took the life of another using a weapon they were illegally in possession of, now they are looking to try to convince people that was okay.

They didn’t get shot for rioting, they got shot for attacking a guy with a gun. Sometimes being stupid gets you killed, it’s unfortunate. Kyle Rittenhouse was one of the stupid ones that day who could’ve been shot, and it looks like he nearly was. He happened to be the dummy with the quicker draw, and will probably get off on self defense for it. When it’s kill or be killed, you probably shouldn’t stand there. Yes, NOT bringing guns to a riot would’ve prevented this, but Rittenhouse and two of the people he shot wanted to play that game.

No, it wasn’t. He didn’t know any of those people prior to that night. He didn’t fire a round until there was a gun pointed at him. Two of the people he shot were armed, just like him. You clearly have been paying zero attention to this case if you’re actually running with this.

But what law was violated, and where is the evidence to support that? If he actually violated laws I'm all for punishing him to the max.
