Bottom line is that the Blazers have, at best, 4 players on the bench that can actually contribute. Nance is good. Zeller gives honest effort. Simons and Little can contribute, but the convenient timing of their current injuries makes me wonder if they really want the responsibility of a bigger role. The rest of the bench are lucky to have jobs.
I don't follow GM and front office changes as much as coaches and player transactions, has there been any recent mid season hiring/firings that led to a breakthrough season or something along those lines? What are we model this transition after?
Little is a fun player and shows the energy Chauncey wants, but he's always down with some sort of lingering injury. He will be an a player they may have to use for the Block Buster everyone thinks can and should happen. Without Dame being part of it.
Nash was just as bad as a talent evaluator - but he didn't leave the team with a payroll situation that left the team hamstrung for years after he left. Creating a team with one of the highest payrolls in the league and a sub .500 record took a special kind of stupid.
this kinda thing doesn't happen midseason unless there are extenuating circumstances. it's a bit unprecedented. of late, i remember knicks firing steve mills in Feb of 2020, but they failed miserably to close that season.
Back when we brought Olshey in from LAC and he was the hot up-and-coming executive with a reputation for being tight with big name players due to his old developmental connections, I questioned whether that was a bad sign for his future dealings once he had aged out of those connections. He sure got stale pretty quick once he was purely front office.
The idea that a team is *ever* hamstrung by a bad contract has been debunked by Wiz, I think, maybe someone else. You can get off of *any* contract for a couple future picks. Look at John Wall
I’m such a dbag that I love that they canned his candy ass in this fashion. Dude thought he was sitting on a throne of gold only for him to get a swift kick in the nuts out of nowhere. I felt bad for Stotts because he was kind of a dead man walking. This one, no empathy at all.
I wouldn’t mind Danny Angie if this is where he wants to be. After all, he did a pretty good job in Boston.
Haha. He's been posting for like 5 years or so. Congrats to the guy behind the Fire Neil Olshey twitter Account. You deserve this, like all Blazers fans deserve it
Mo, Nate, Terry - none of them particularly good coaches (OK Mo was just bad), but they all seemed like good people. You could want them gone without feeling any personal animosity. Olshit is different. He has a gift for making people dislike him. A gift usually only seen in folks who get a kick out of being a miserable asshole.
