No idea if Cronin is a basketball mind, but the way he speaks is completely opposite of Olshey. Clearly has higher EQ than Neil.
good culture is the foundation for a winning team. people need to be invested and enjoy coming to work. Or you get shoddy work and it trickles down and impacts the on-court performance.
Chauncy, " the crazy thing is I am a first year head coach and I am the longest tenured person sitting up here in their current position". Kind of a funny line. Sad, but funny.
I really don't think Neil being an ass in the corporate office was effecting whether or not our team bothered to play defense. Happy to be proven wrong.
Chauncey comes short of saying our roster doesn't fit by saying you need to find a group with the right "synergy" and "chemistry".
Cronin not really inspiring much confidence. "Just learning, listening. People around the league calling to help." He sounds like he knows how to deal with people, but he's basically on training wheels.
That's going to be true for every leaders that need to work with people - unless they are ready for a complete teardown. You can't expect completely transparent responses to these kinds of questions.
Cronin: "First person I called was Chad Buchanan." Here's how I expected the conversation to go: Chad: "I set the groundwork to draft the best player in franchise history and I still got replaced." Cronin: "lol"
Yes, I thought his response was great. I was afraid he was going to say something about the roster that would look bad towards the rest of the league.
Casey makes a great point. Cronin has survived MULTIPLE GMs. That is pretty rare for a front office person to keep his job through multiple regimes.
"We don't have any bad contracts" Really Joe? Is there not one 6'3 shooting guard owed 100M over the next 3 years?
