'Secretly everyone just knows it's wrong': Female UPenn swimmer says trans athlete Lia Thomas is only on the team because their coach 'just really likes winning'
    • An anonymous female swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania said she and her other teammates are upset by their transgender teammate who continues to smash records
    • In an interview with Outkick, she says they have discussed their frustrations with having a transgender teammate with their coach Mike Schnur, but he 'just really likes winning'
    • Lia Thomas, 22, smashed two US swimming records at an Akron, Ohio contest over the weekend
    • Thomas gave an interview to SwimSwam that was posted Thursday touting the fairness of the inclusive but controversial IOC guidelines allowing transgender athletes to compete in their preferred category
    • Thomas previously competed for the school's men's team for three years before joining the women's team. Her last men's competition was in November 2019

Personally, I feel for the other girl athletes. Hmmm..I wonder how @THE HCP might feel if a trans beat out his daughter for a soccer scholarship? These issues are soon to come up.

I'm sure he would be glad to know that the coach who offered the scholarship is putting winning above anything else and his daughter will have a chance to go elsewhere.

It's similar to the whole illegals are taking our jobs! No, employers are choosing to give illegals jobs at lower wages than legal workers.

Yes, soon. Very soon all athletes will be trans. Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls. It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world.

Bob Whitsitt put winning above everything else, too. I still kinda chuckle when I recall him quipping he wasn't a chemistry major.

I dont blame the Penn girl swimmers from being upset.
They should just sanction another class of competition, seems like an equitable fair solution. They probably would like for that to happen anyway.

science has shown muscle growth and definition is based on metabolism and hormones. maybe there needs to be a range where the students have to land within that range with testing to be allowed to compete?
Then the ones outside of the range can have their own class or sect?

or any female over the range has to compete with the males?

Some peope will take offence to what im about to say but i dont care.
Maybe there should be a trans section?

We have special olympics for those with mental and physical disabilities. Would being born with sex organs opposite one thinks they are would also be a handicap or disability of some sort?

we have special olympics because they cant compete with healthy people.

Should be the same for trans.

Her competing on the mens team is probably more fair than her competing against women.
They need a sanctioned class for trans to make it totally fair, imo.

Young women will not want to go to Penn and swim if they think they wont be given a fair shot.

The solution should always be something equitable for both, then build on it.

Anyone who is physically different should be excluded from sports. For example, Shaq should not have been allowed to play basketball. He's too big. Abdul-Jabbar? Too tall.
