I'll take it! I know it's a stupid-small sample size, but maybe this suits him more because he's not assigned a rigid position and can roam more? Give that man his autonomy and watch him flourish!
Hah! I think a better explanation is Chauncey realized that what he was doing was misusing RoCo's talents. He loosened up on the reins.
Somebody find stats. What is the best and what is the worst pairing out of: Nance and RoCo Nance and Nurk Nurk and RoCo
Funny how things work, right? Although I thought the reffing was particularly awful last night on both ends, and that likely threw off everyone's rhythm. Also RoCo played better at center. I think that's his natural position now, as sad as it is to say.
misusing? dude simply played hard for the first time in 27 games. had nothing to do with schemes or strategy.
Nurk and RoCo have played 540ish minutes together. They are a net -3.4 per 100 possessions Nurk and Nance have played only about 90ish minutes. They are at 0.0 per 100 possessions. Nance and Covington have played about 115 minutes. They are a +6.2 per 100 possessions.
i have an inherent problem with using two man lineups to analyze impact. i wish they would remove that stat altogether so people stop making a big deal out of it. we don't know who else was on the floor at the time these duos played. We're also a losing team with a negative point differential overall, while being 5 games under .500, and as a result any lineup with more minutes will have a negative net rating. too many caveats/assumptions to make-- i'm entirely dismissive of it.
Except, presumably, when the two players are Dame and CJ and it shows we're bad with them playing at the same time.
This is more what I was wanting and expecting from him when he joined. I don’t need him shooting 3s on the wing. I need him hustling, defending, cutting, doing the little things.
this is what he was doing last year. looks multiple steps slower this year... until last night. i feel like he got more deflections this game than he had like all of last month.
