no worries, someone will definitely offer their top 25 player in the summer for the guy that hasn’t played in over a year.

well, I guess we can't say Simmons is an idiot anymore, or at least we can't say Simmons' agent is an idiot. Philly's season is more than 1/3rd over and Simmons has collected most of his pay so far by walking the path of just enough to avoid more fines. And the season might be well more than 1/3 over if Omicron keeps raising havoc

Morey has painted himself into a pretty bad corner. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy

Who even said this? Klutch has been playing this perfectly. Morey is the idiot.

Except it was pretty foreseeable that Simmons and Embiid wouldn't work, so why didn't Klutch force a trade when they had leverage, before he signed a long contract?

They know he's never playing for the Sixers again, I mean that is a safe bet. It's just a matter of when.

Morey is only an idiot if he ends up losing Simmons for below his value. Everyone thought he'd be forced into a firesale. He wasn't. He knows Simmons' value as an elite defender and freakishly-sized point guard. So he's waiting for everybody else to get desperate. Sure, he's paying Simmons not to play, but less than the Rockets are paying Wall, for instance. I'd say his stubbornness has served him well so far (the fact that we're mad he didn't trade us Simmons for CJ when everyone was saying that's what ought to happen is proof of this). People keep thinking he'll put Simmons on the sale rack but he knows Simmons is his biggest asset so he'll wait till people want to pay him what he's worth.
"But the more Simmons sits out, the less his value!"
Bullshit. Nobody really believes there's anything wrong with Simmons, other than a weak jump shot.
Prediction: Morey's going to get more than people think for Simmons because he didn't blink.

(Maybe if the Sixers had played like shit without Simmons we could say Morey fucked up. But they haven't, and in fact it's given Maxey and Curry a chance to shine. Morey wins again!)

I think what he means to say is "attention other teams interested in Ben, the Lakers want him, so pony up!"

What's really funny is reading Twitter and see fans of all these teams say Simmons isn't worth it ... or offering a trade similar to CJ and RoCo and nothing else for Simmons.

Also as amusing were tweets from Laker fans last night that they should keep Westbrook and trade AD.

If they DID trade AD, then they have a shot at Simmons. And that's literally the ONLY way they have a shot.

Maybe they're not "playing like shit" but going from .681 and the 1st seed to .536 and the sixth seed, doesn't reflect the picture you're painting. If Morey miraculously gets everything he wants for Simmons by the trade deadline then he'll look like a genius. If he ends up settling for an offer that's been out there all season he'll end up having given up crucial seeding for no reason. If he keeps Simmons past the deadline and Simmons sits the entire season then he's given up a very real chance at a title and I can't think of anything worse a GM could do.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
A very real chance at a title? CJ is not the difference between the current six-seed Sixers and a championship Sixers. It's incredible that CJ gets destroyed every game for his terrible shot selection, awful efficiency, awful defense and then (some of, not all) the same people turn around and say Morey is an idiot for not immediately giving up Simmons to get him so they can win a title.

Morey isn't an idiot, fans here are just angry that Morey won't give Simmons to Portland for whatever loose change Portland fans are willing to give up (no Little, though!).

At this point, I'll give up anyone or combo's of anyones for Simmons or someone else that could make a significant difference. I like Nas but am not seeing enough reason for him to stand in the way of someone much better.

I don't want to give up picks. We have few enough as it is.

I'm not quite there yet but the idea of blowing it all up and starting over has entered the realm of possibility. Love Dame but this team is nigh unwatchable. If I weren't already a fan, nothing they have/are doing would entice me to become one.

CJ would be big for them, he's an excellent scorer and Doc would hold him accountable for his shot selection. I also don't think we should be able to get Simmons for just CJ. So CJ and RoCo plus a future first makes them much better than they are right now CJ and Nas might be something they want too. Regardless, they have always needed a consistent big time perimeter scoring threat, CJ is a ton better than Seth and Maxey. If they had CJ they could have that firepower coming off of the bench.

CJ would look better than he ever has on that team because while he wouldn't have to take turns with Dame, he would have an MVP caliber C drawing coverage away from him and another really solid scorer in Harris that people have to pay a lot of attention to as well. CJ needs a change of scenery to change his attitude and effort. Then they also get a starting level forward that they can plug in next to Harris bringing Green off of the bench or have as another bench piece giving them even more quality depth.
