Rubio is out for the year. Trade CJ and Covington to Cleveland for Love and Okoro. If Love goes down then at least we got a young 2/3 asset, cap relief (albeit a year removed - but under LT this year), and we can embrace the tank. Our passing and size would improve a ton with that deal.

    Lillard/Smith
    Powell/Simons
    Okoro/Little
    Love/Little/Nance
    Nurkic/Nance/Zeller

Love is having a strong year. Rubio was HUGE for the Cavs and that injury sucks for them.

Hollinger had Roco as the #2 player to watch at the deadline (guess who #1 was??)

I think my main target would be one of Hunter/Reddish from Atlanta.

Btw Hollinger also mentions that the lakers probably have called about Powell

What could the Lakers give the Blazers that some other team couldn't outdo?

I liked the initial Roco trade, and I understand the reasons for the offers mentioned, but it'd feel like a big nut punch to give up 2 firsts for a guy, not do anything major to address team needs elsewhere, and then basically dump him for tax relief and a distant 2nd a year and some change later.
    Fuck Neil.

honestly Roco isn’t at the top of my trade list. I get he’s a free agent but we need all the defenders we can find and we will have his bird rights. I would trade him for maybe a younger more inexperienced guy with a defensive profile that’s under contract next year though. Trading him just to duck the tax is wack.

I just think at his age and productivity, his bird rights probably don't matter a ton, because at best, he's an MLE contract, and anyone else can offer him the same. If even that.
And, I wouldn't want to bid over MLE with bird rights, because he just isn't worth it.

I do otherwise agree, I like his new bench role where it seems he is given greater freedom to roam, instead of a rigid role, and don't want to move him just to duck the tax. I mean, fuck you Jody, you have billions. It's not my money!

And also, agree, would love to move him for a younger player cost controlled another year or more.

I’m guessing hunter/reddish would cost a first. Wonder what Lu Dorts price is.

man olshey really fucked up by trading Trent. He would’ve been the perfect guy to play next to Dame.

Maybe they can add Rondo to whatever they don't have to offer.

RoCo for our first back from Chicago still makes more sense to me than any other possible trade. RoCo would have a revitalization on Chicago because they have good perimeter defenders.

Just need a 3rd team to take Derrick Jones since we can't.

    Powell’s better than Trent.

I would submit part of that has to do with Norm playing out of position so much.

he wasn’t good in Toronto either before they traded him. Guys blow by him routinely, it doesn’t have much to do with his size. You barely see any threes post up anymore, and there are a bunch of players around his size playing SF. Our problem isn’t necessarily that we run three guard lineups. Our problem is none of them are even average defensively.

Here’s another one: Powell for Marcus Smart. Boston needs scoring/shooting. Their contracts are almost identical, as is their value on paper; identical VORP, nearly identical BPM. It’s swapping defense for offense and vice versa.

This yr. And Gary was the worse one on defense last yr. Maybe this has something to do with the team?

Pffff. Have Trent guard SF’s most of the year out of position.

Raptors robbed olshey, deal with it. And it’s not like Trent magically became a good defender. The tools were always evident.
