Went out to dinner last night. 16oz boneless ribeye over mashed potatoes. Tequila and club soda. Hiked down into the very active Kilauea to see some of Pele’s fireworks. Brunch at Kilauea Lodge right now for some hash. Some fun shopping and lunch out, going for a hike back into the volcano with the kiddos, then holing up at home in my giant onesie, and we’re making fresh poke and grilling up some ahi (from the dude that catches it every morning and then spends his afternoon selling it on the side of the road at $4.50/pound) and King Ora salmon flown in from New Zealand. Lots of raw fish going down tonight. Lots of Champagne and wine bottles getting opened tonight and we’ll probably watch the neighbors blow up fire works.
That's my idea of a good time.....I lived not far from that lodge for a summer once before I found my cabin closer to Mountain View.....
nice! Were you below or above Mountain View? We are closer to Mountain View, but have a Volcano address. Some records actually have us as a Mountain View addy and postal code, which can be frustrating at times…
Above and south of the hiway in Paradise Acres I think it was called....couple miles of rough gravel road in and I had a solar cabin there which was my son's first home...it was a great little cabin with no visible neighbors...I used a PO box in Hilo when I was there and worked at the Japanese college in Hilo a few days a week.
yes. better and cleaner than sugary drinks. I prefer straight sipping tequila, but the wife frowns upon it.
Love quality tequilas, gins, and whiskeys. vodka used to be my thing, but it reminds me too much of rubbing alcohol these days. my palate continues to change.
Fun in the sun style for me, living large at Puerto Morelos all inclusive resort. Just got back from Xcaret with the family, now its food and booze time. Happy New year all.
I am having a colonoscopy Monday so I am guessing the rest of this year is spent trying to figure out what I can eat. My daughter is sleeping now and wants to stay up till midnight. Will probably ring in the new year sleeping thru whatever she has plans for after 10 pm.
My two youngest (12&13) are at a friend's house, my eldest (15) and wife (just turned 29 again last week) and I are watching Basketball: A Love Story while the eldest is exchanging texts with some trainers and her club coach. HS basketball season has started somewhat less successful than we'd hoped, but she's starting to get more PT and hopefully earning more trust from her coaches. We're hoping that turns into some more success for the HS team as well. Overall, an optimistic feeling heading in to the New Year, and a relaxing evening with home cooked ribeye, salad, and mashed potatoes. Happy New Year everyone!
It was a perfect night at home for us. We have guests from Cambodia coming in this afternoon, so should be a fun-filled evening. They love to play Mexican dominoes.
Took a nap before midnight and woke up around 1:30 AM, Got up brushed my teeth and went back to bed getting up just now feeling reinvigorated.
