yeah you’re on the right track there. Younger players under control beyond this season and using our surplus at guard to balance out the roster, specifically at forward.

I don't think Billups would be happy either.

billups knows and has mentioned specifically how undersized they are. I think he would welcome it.

Players with injuries that are either out for the year or might not be ready to come back until late in the season might be good to target because it both helps us lose without trying, doesn't take away minutes from Ant/Nas, and provides reinforcements (potentially) for next year. Good teams with players out for the year might be more willing to make a move for someone who can help now.

Some players that come to mind (just listing them, not saying I want all these players):

    James Wiseman
    Jonathan Isaac
    Markelle Fultz
    Ricky Rubio (Bird Rights)
    Dario Saric
    Patrick Williams
    TJ Warren (Bird Rights)
    TJ McConnell
    Brook Lopez
    Zion Williamson (ha ha)
    Derrick Rose
    Zach Collins (ha ha)

It was intentional, I'd be shocked if the Blazers made a move for him.

Dame tried to recruit him this summer on Team USA (Durant did too). He said he would be unhappy if he was traded from Detroit and doesn't want to play anywhere else. That's fine for him to feel that way, but I don't want players like that.

I would love to get Jonathan Isaac. Talk about a wing defensive stud.

Something in a 3 way deal with Philly and Atlanta.
Atlanta sends out bogdanovic, hunter, reddish and picks for Simmons.
Philly sends out Simmons for CJ, hunter and picks.
We send CJ for bogdanovic and reddish, which I think someone here might have already suggested

Hollinger suggested RoCo for Atlanta today. Delon and Reddish together is almost identical to his contract and would keep Atlanta under the tax. Wouldn’t help our own tax situation but we’d pick up a prospect.

i think they're overvaluing reddish from everything heard/read. his 30 pt games last week didn't help. they used the #10 pick for him so they want an unprotected first that could be lotto. seems far fetched given how he's underperformed until lately, but still.

Also sidebar, I think Nas is a better prospect than Cam.

I don't think we have to give that pick in this trade... also we can't give that pick in any trade. Getting Bogdan and CJ plus the OKC first should be enough if anything we would just give them our second rounders in 27' and 28'.

The OKC pick has no chance of conveying as a 1st. It's lottery protected and in it's last year before turning into two future 2nd rounders.

Got it, I knew it was protected but didn't know it was changing to two seconds next draft. Still we can't convey any first rounder plus I think Norm, CJ and RoCo is enough to give up to get Simmons and take on Danilo's contract.

Nas is certainly performing better than Reddish

    upload_2022-1-5_17-53-18.png

the biggest differences are that Reddish has a big advantage in 3ptFG% while Nas has a big advantage as a rebounder

So what’s Simons’ contract looking like? Trent got 18M AAV. Can’t imagine Simons getting much less. That would mean $100M + invested into four guards that don’t defend. I just can’t see that happening. I also can’t see Simons getting traded because he’s Dame insurance just in case they really wanna blow it up and rebuild (which probably wouldn’t happen until after next season at the earliest)

That means at least one of CJ/Powell are almost assuredly getting moved between now and the beginning of next season.

blockbuster idea. minnesota can choose between nurk or roco here, and we'd then trade the other for picks in a subsequent deal.

As a reference, here were some guard contracts in 21 FA:

    Paul -- 120 mil, 4 yrs
    Powell-- 90 mil, 5 yrs
    Lowry -- 85 mil, 3 yrs
    Conley -- 68 mil, 4 yrs
    Lonzo (RFA, S&T) -- 80 mil, 4 yrs
    Dinwiddie -- 54 mil, 3 yrs
    Trent (RFA) -- 52 mil, 3 yrs
    Graham (RFA, S&T) -- 47 mil, 4 yrs
    Rose -- 44 mil, 3 yrs
    Hart (RFA) -- 38 mil, 3 yrs
    Horton-Tucker (RFA) -- 31 mil, 3 yrs
    Burks -- 30 mil, 3 yrs
    Caruso (RFA, S&T) -- 37 mil, 4 yrs

I was hoping for a 60/4 for Simons especially as most RFA contracts are trending to be discounts, but I think he's outplaying that right now. But ya.. at least one of Norm/CJ has to go. I don't want to lose Ant for nothing so we'll be forced to pay him. And he projects really well as a ~20pt scorer off the bench, so he'd be worth it.
