bbm’s database only has two other cases of this specific injury, and average time missed was 6.5 games.
Also from BBM: “This doctor gave a rundown of his outside perspective, suggesting that McCollum could be restricted from flying while recovering due to cabin pressure changes. -- It seems like there's a very wide range for CJ's return timeline. -- Altogether, it could be anywhere from 2-10 weeks, though most speculation seems to be around 4-5 weeks for McCollum based on what little we know right now. -- Nassir Little is someone to keep tabs on in case he ends up starting at SF and playing big minutes.”
Still no official timetable for return but CJ said on his pod today that imaging shows significant improvement already. Is consulting specialists regularly and will start respiratory therapy soon. He sounded like he was a bit spooked when first getting shortness of breath.
Those bubbles outside the lung take 1 to 2 weeks to go away without the pressure being released by a needle. After that you are technically recovered but that lung hasn't been expanding fully during that time so your cardio will be a little hampered. CJ will be back soon... football players come back from collapsed lungs within three weeks, so this isn't a long term thing that has to be worried about. Anything severe would have required a surgery. Of course when CJ tried to take a full breath and couldn't it was alarming for him. That's what many people feel like is happening during a panic attack only with CJ it was his reality.
It's actually a great time for CJ to not have to travel...new baby comin...covid everywhere...hell I'd take as long as I could if I were him.
He was re-evaluated and every thing was clear. He never had a hole in his lung from what I read, so it healed fairly quickly. Just has to get his 'lungs' back, change some diapers, drink some wine, collect some paychecks, practice a little, do some night feedings, and he'll be back in no time.
seriously? dude can't fly on planes cuz of the pressure changes. say what you want about CJ but the guy has never dogged it or faked injuries. this is a guy who played with a broken bone in his back in a play-in game and knocked out Memphis while dame was dead tired. expect better from you
I don't think CJ is dogging it and he's definitely not faking an injury but I'm pretty sure because the lung wasn't punctured and the air didn't have to be released through a syringe, he'd be fine to fly already. It's been a couple of weeks since the doctors said that everything was cleared up. That being said, maybe just maybe they're telling CJ to take his time because they've got a for sure trade and a competing trade situation that they're trying to resolve. Fingers crossed... both that he's fully recovered and that he's on his way out the door.
Really? All you have to do is look one post above yours for a smack in the face by S2 reality. This crowd epitomizes the loser mentality at times.
