I've been in Hawaii for the superbowl. That one where the Patriots won the game like 3-0 or whatever. It was so boring, we left the bar at halftime and hopped on a booze cruise.

Trying to plan mid may Honeymoon.

Original plan was Philippines for the Tropical Islands. But that ain't happening, the country is barely open to visitors now.

Leaning towards Spain now. Maybe Spain/Portugal or Spain and Paris or Spain and the French Rieria.

I've been to spain twice in the last 10 years, but I just can't see myself chillin on a beach for a week.

Was looking at Carribean...Turks and Caicos or the Bahamas, but the big resorts in the Bahamas kinda looked like Vegas.

One of our best trips ever was Cartegena Colombia. It's a very romantic spot and has it all, the evening walks on the city walls are the thing for lovers to do, food scene out of this world, you can get lost in the alleys like Venice, the city beaches kind of suck (so stay in the walled downtown area) but Isla Rosario is not far away and you can hire a private boat to go to some of the most amazing beaches you will ever see and be some of the only people on them. Our Airbnb came with a butler and a cook ( no joke). Super cheap destination and as fun/amazing as any European city.

Currently I am in San Miguel de Allende. No beach here but it is a fun and romantic spot also. Very old world feel and the food scene is one of the best I have seen, every meal seems better than the last. Super romantic and cheap. Lots of expats, you could live here or spend 4 or 5 days. The city of rooftop bars and restaurants and cobblestone streets.

Also recommend Mexico City, it's a world class destination. Feels like Rome with it's size, food, ruins, culture, museums and endless things to do. I think they said only Paris has more museums. You can get a hotel overlooking the main square for very cheap also. You will never run out of things to do in that city. No beach either tho, but do what we did and spend a week there then catch a cheap flight to a small beach town for a few days like Puerto Escondido.

Try Tahiti and Moorea. I had a great time over there.

Valencia Spain and the French Riviera. One condition, please take me. I don't eat much and would be happy to sleep on the balcony on a roll away. If you wouldn't mind then bring my wife who is Miss Manners although how she can eat a lot more than me and maintain that 120 lb. body is one of life's great mysteries. I would urge you to take a side trip to Monaco, not because you've never been there, and I've heard you say you have, but because I've long yearned to go there one day.

I'm looking to put together a birthdays celebrations trip out West for this coming August. They really love Leavenworth, WA. I've always considered Leavenworth a Wintertime experience. Has anyone been there in the Summertime? Is it any fun at that time?

I was considering Valencia too. I did the Tomato fight thing a few years back there.

Mexico is too easy for us, we'd probably want a little further out. I've never been to South America, but maybe on a future trip. I heard it was good too.

Is there stuff to do other than eco adventures/beachy stuff?
Would I get bored for 6 days?

You could spend a couple days in Papeete (sp?) on Tahiti and maybe 4 days on Moorea. No way you would be bored in 6 days. It's beautiful and the locals are cool.

My other concern that since its in the south pacific, it'll be similar in culture/vibe to Hawaii, which we are going to next month.

Rent a jeep and drive around the island of Moorea. Takes about 45 minutes.

The culture is very different than Hawaii in my opinion. Not as touristy.

    It's more backwoods than Hawaii.

We went in mid June a couple of years ago. Nice place to visit for maybe a day and then you’ve pretty much seen it all. Lotta (too much) kitsch but the food in general is decent. But for all that we heard about it before going (our first time) we found it pretty overhyped. But then, everyone says the time to go is around Christmas………

That's what I thought. I think I'm gonna look at Friday Harbor in the San Juans instead.
