What kind of political pressure do you think would work on Manchin and Sinema?

Problem with 'like Trump' is that Democratic voters aren't a cult and aren't going to vote en masse for or against whoever the President tells them to.
Do you think anyone could convince WV voters to vote for a more liberal Democrat? Maybe in the primary, but that just means a loss in the general.

Seems every congress has those that don't tow the party line. It will never change.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cn...olicy-prolongs-supply-chain-disruptions-.html

China's zero-Covid policy could deal another blow to global supply chains, Moody's says

    KEY POINTS
    • Supply chain disruptions are being prolonged driven largely by China's strict zero-Covid policy, according to an economist from Moody's Analytics.
    • China's zero-Covid policy "really does increase the downside risks for material improvement in supply chains," said Katrina Ell, a senior economist for Asia-Pacific.
    • She noted there will be "important ramifications for inflation and also central bank policy-making in the next couple of months."

I don't think Biden could get that kind of support. His policies (the policies he actually supports) aren't good enough to gain more support.

If he actually did what was necessary to address the pandemic that could help. Why are we just now talking about getting at home tests into every home? Why are we still paying out of pocket for tests? Why haven't we purchased the covid-19 patents from big pharm and built out a worldwide network to kill this disease? Instead we get half assed politics.

The President will have to get enough people in WV to pressure Manchin. That will take huge political pressure in WV by the President personally campaigning in WV for those policies.

Apply enough pressure and Manchin would cave. He would cave before you had to run somebody against him.

But again, Biden isn't even close to doing that. He's interested in doing as little as possible while trying to look as progressive as possible.

If Biden spent every day in WV I don't think it would have any positive effect. Do people in WV care about any of this? I don't think so, or they wouldn't elect so many Republicans. What's Biden's approval rating in WV? 25% maybe? They aren't going to listen to him. It might very well make Manchin more popular for resisting Biden's pressure.

Of course Biden's approval rating is in the toilet. You don't win people over by doing a bunch of half measures no sooner than absolutely necessary. That's why I said he can't do it.

That's why he was never a good candidate. He was just to get us back to the same bullshit that gave us Trump. And that's exactly what we'll get. If not Trump it'll be somebody similar.

A Biden isn't going to cut it. Never was.

Nobody else was going to cut it, either. I don't think the people of WV were going to listen to any of the other D candidates.

We needed to win senate elections in places where we had a chance to win. Like Manchin said. Depending on him to help is a blindfolded hail mary.

That wasn't going to happen by tying the Democratic party to Biden. Democrats need to do better. Far better.

Maybe there was a chance if Biden turned his back on the politics he's always supported. But if he were going to do that the DNC wouldn't have picked him.

What presidential candidate do you think would have kept Cal Cunningham's zipper up? Or beaten Susan Collins? Those are the only 2 that were even close.

I don't think Biden's any hot stuff, but I don't think he's really the problem here, Manchin and Sinema and the Republicans are. I don't see anyone else who would have had more success pushing those stupid rocks up the hill.

And the "DNC" didn't pick him. The primary voters - especially, the SC voters - picked him.

Heh heh. The DNC picked Biden. They had to convince primary voters to vote for him, sure. But he was their pick.

I'm not sure if another candidate could have done it. I'm not sure democrats have what it takes to do it. They turn too many people blue collar workers off.

Mayor Pete has some potential... But he's also bought and paid for. No reason to think he won't just bend the same knee while turning off the same people Biden has... Andrew Yang? Bernie had the following, but he was too jarring.

Frankly, after 4 years with Trump and them trotting out Biden/Kamala I'm even less optimistic.

    It's actually pretty depressing.

Agree, in fact the DNC and media was panicking that Bernie was going to win the nomination. They had to promote someone other than Bernie as they didn't have confidence in him beating........
