I would trade Nance the guy hasn't never been healthy his whole career. Every season he been down missing a lot of games.

Minimum threshold for any return in a trade, again my opinion (if obvious stars like Siakam/Simmons are unavailable in any package):

    - CJ : starter caliber wing/big player, prospect, first round pick
    - Norm: prospect, first round pick
    - RoCo: first round pick, or similar player with a longer contract
    - Nurk: future starting caliber C or wing, first round pick

I don't see Nurk or CJ getting traded just because the market appears quite tepid for them. But if we can accomplish my goals for Norm or RoCo with the teams I laid out above while getting salary/tax relief, I'd call the deadline a success.

Now Ingles is injured, Utah thinks they can't trade him, but I'd accept Ingles and a first rounder for RoCo.

A 2026 first rounder??? Because that's the earliest they can trade one. I think with the reported interest from several other teams for RoCo, we can get more value than that not more value than a 2022 first and matching salaries that are of no use to our trade partner just more value than a 2026 first and a player who won't play a game for us before hitting unrestricted free agency and increases our cap number.

Will thrown in what I've been able to confirm based on all the things we have heard.

    CJ:
    - Pelicans - the most talked about. Definite discussions.
    - Knicks - interest, but nothing significant yet
    - Boston - more of a talking point than anything else
    - Sixers - depends on if you think Morey is posing or not

    Norm:
    - Boston
    - Hawks - small conversations
    - Knicks
    - Cavaliers
    - Pistons - definite interest due to the coach
    - Dallas - they always liked Norm
    - Pelicans - similar to slightly less of a level to CJ discussions

    RoCo:
    - Bulls - would love to have him
    - Hawks
    - Knicks
    - Pacers
    - Grizzlies - would like to add him
    - Nuggets - don't think Portland will trade in the Division
    - Timberwolves - similar to above
    - Kings - who knows what the Kings really think
    - Jazz - now have even less to trade

    Nurk:
    - Hornets - solid discussion
    - Raptors - think they might be able to get him in FA'cy
    - Boston - would like, but not sure how it would work
    - Pistons - could get him in FA'cy

when I read the protections on the firsts they have already traded I think the earliest pick they can is a 2028 first

Discussed the possible mechanics of a CJ to New Orleans trade and how Portland could try to incorporate a 3rd team to createore value and some large TPEs around the $20M range! Trade talk starts at the 27:35 mark.

So unless the Jazz or our front office finds a third team that really values the pieces the Jazz see as expendable to get RoCo... there is no deal sending RoCo to Utah that makes sense to us.

We've made so many deals with Denver before. Dont think the division thing matters.

Just piggybacking off of the trade you made. If Simmons is a big target for us which I think he should be is there any way the Sixers could turn down Norm, Larry, Zeller (for salary matching purposes) and four first round picks for Simmons? I mean they probably wouldn't even be able to turn down Norm, Larry, Zeller and three first rounders so we could keep the 2025 first. This would be your trade followed by our trade with Philly not a four teamer (just put all of the moving parts on one screen shot).

I think the two trades would make it so we are starting Ant, Hart, Murphy or Satoranski, Simmons and Nurk (or trade Nurk for a stretch big) until Dame gets back and that team could actually do some damage this year in the playoffs and set us up really nicely for next year with Nas coming back.

@Rastapopoulos posted this trade and I love it but since we'd be taking NOLA's only first rounder this season we couldn't take their only first rounder next and that 2023 Lakers first is a swap so we could just replace it with with the Lakers 2o24 first rounder.

If this trade went through I would think we could get this done as well and maybe even get one more pick out of the Rockets. Trigger Warning: I like Kevin Porter Jr.'s game and think he would do well filling in for Dame until Dame was healed and then backing Dame up once he got back.
    upload_2022-1-31_20-32-29.png

I would then do this trade plus as many of what would be the 4 recently acquired first rounders as necessary to make it work... I think it would take three.
    upload_2022-1-31_20-41-49.png

What we end up with (when Larry comes back) is a rotation of Porter, Hart, Simmons, Larry, Wood, Milton, Watford, Hayes, Satoranski or BennyMac. Then when Dame comes back for the playoffs we would have Dame, Hart, Larry, Simmons, Wood, Porter, Milton, Watford and Hayes. Not only that but all of those players in the playoff rotation are under contract for next year besides Watford and by converting him to a three year rookie minimum deal whenever we want to this season, he could be to. With all of the players we would have under contract and if we used our second round pick we would have a cap number of right around 140M with 13 spots filled. The luxury tax is supposed to be 145M next season so we could use the full MLE to get one more impact player. Dame, Hart, Nas, Simmons, Wood, Larry, Porter, Milton, Hayes and our MLE guy would be a very deep team that would contend for a title.

I still think we could get Simmons, Jaylen Brown, Wood, Milton and Porter with the right trades and using up a ton of future draft capital as apposed to the above scenario. That lineup is far more potent on the front end but isn't quite as deep and would likely mean our only holdovers going into next season from this roster would be Dame, Nas, Watford and GB3 along with the fact that we would have traded away or given swap rights to all of our future first rounders for the next six seasons.

The best news though is there are a lot of options right now to make this team much better not so importantly for the rest of this season but also going into the future with Dame leading this team to actual championships. I honestly don't think any of this stuff is pie in the sky at all. They're all very reasonable trades with teams that need to make trades.

I have to disagree--I don't see any of the three as reasonable.
    • If CJ could be dealt for 3 firsts, it would have already happened.
    • Yes, Wood is available, but there's no way the Rockets give him and 2 firsts for Nurk and Ant
    • If Philly has repeatedly refused any deals centered around CJ for Simmons, why would they take a deal centered on a lesser player in Norm?
I will agree with you that if these deals were available, they could generate a team that could be a contender, but it just doesn't seem feasible to me.

CJ isn't dealt for three firsts in the trade @Rastapopoulos came up with he's dealt for a role playing borderline starting level SG/SF in Hart, a young unproven 3 and D C with legal trouble in Hayes, a salary filling expiring contract attached to a player that never should have been paid that much in Satoranski, two first rounders and a second rounder (the second rounder wouldn't be sticking point for me). All of these assets would be sent by a team very rich in draft picks but who reportedly desperately want CJ.

Wood isn't just available, he's on the outs with the Rockets and I actually think Nurk is more than enough to get him. Kevin Porter Jr. is also having problems with the organization and we'd almost be doing them a favor in taking him. Ant on the other hand is the talk of the NBA and looks like his floor is being an all star PG in this league that can score from anywhere and facilitate for teammates and his ceiling isn't known right now, so much that you have Blazers fans who are wanting to keep him over Damian Lillard... I think from another team that's rich on picks but poor on hope, that would be worth a couple first rounders.

Philly not only hasn't repeatedly refused deals centered around CJ, the only time an actual offer was reported it was them offering Simmons for CJ, three firsts and three swaps. So I'm giving them a player that does a lot of things CJ does, plays better defense and gets paid half as much in Norm, then I'm giving them a player that a ton of teams around the league are pining over right now in RoCo (maybe it would be better to get what we can for RoCo from one of the teams rumored to be in a bidding war for him and ship that to Philly) then I'm giving them 4 first rounders... that's better than three firsts and swaps that likely will be a few picks apart if any.

You can disagree with Rasta about CJ's value to the Pelicans even though I think it's about right. You can disagree with me about Ant's value. However Norm, RoCo and four fucking first round draft picks for Simmons who refuses to ever play for Philly again is enough for Morey to brag that he pulled a big one over on us.
