And you would be very wrong, my friend.

It is not about me being able to do for others. It is about my literal thinking not allowing me to see it their way, nor yours apparently.

I am sorry that people can't understand literal thinking. People also don't get our sensory issues when it comes to noise/sound. I ask non-autistic people if that noise bothers them. I find it odd when it doesn't, and they find it odd that it somehow bothers me. It is the way that I am. Nothing will ever change that.

And at this point, I am calling it. We are clearly at odds here, so I see no point in continuing to explain, what seemingly can't be explained to someone who doesn't have literal thinking, or at least know what it is/much about it.

Edit: I am not asking anyone here to believe me to be something that I am not. Again, big difference as I see it.

I don't think we're at odds, just having a conversation.

BTW, my grandson was autistic and I'm very familiar with some of the sensory issues.

At odds was probably the wrong wording. We disagree.

He was nonverbal, and then I was watching 60 Minutes and saw this story...

So we got him an iPad and holy hell, he could communicate with us with it. It was a life-changing miracle for all of us. Just amazing. It was like a switch was turned on.

That is cool. It reminded me of this story.

Non-verbal girl with Autism speaks through her computer 20/20 ABC News.

She had a short-lived YouTube channel interviewing celebrities. The videos are still up.

After some thought. It seems to me that you were going for an acceptance/respect angle. If that is the case, I can see why we are not on the same page. As, for me, it is my literal thinking, and has nothing to do with respect or disrespect.

If not, I doubt I could really explain any further.

In the end it still leaves us the same spot. As I can't get past my literal thinking to make the leap to a confusing world of pronouns that leave me feeling like I just went half-insane trying to follow.

If you want to confirm this was the angle you were going for, that is fine. But most likely we will still have to leave it here, as I doubt we can ever really get beyond this point.

What this conversation reminds me of was a conversation years ago in which @BlazerCaravan (who changed their name to something else I can't remember) compared seeing a spectrum of gender to the ability to see color. Those who can only see two genders, and can't comprehend gender transition see the world in black and white...essentially colorblind. And if someone is truly seeing the world in grayscale, no amount of explanation will cause them to be able to differentiate red from green.

We are told that we have to respect other people's perception, even though it differs from our own. I can see how the same expectation should be able to apply to you as well, that we should be able to respect your inability to see anything more than physical sex as it relates to gender.

First off, I'm not scared of trans people. And you apparently haven't been following the conversation in this thread very closely.

No, not really...I would have to be surprised by it to be outraged

A black face emoji is a puerile and fatuous response to the pregnant man emojis being added. The pregnant man at least represents some commodity, in it's attempt to embrace equality.

sorry bro. Gotta ask it. Where was this stance from anyone here back when i first started, when myself and some others made it clear that some OTHERS here were being completely disrespectful?

We had zero backing and were basically considered thin skinned snowflakes.

when it comes to giving others respect, this forum can be as hypocritical as it gets.

Sorry if something I did makes you feel like i'm a hypocrite.

It is not just gender, it is everything. I can't see "gender" as it pertains to anything beyond male and female. (and for anyone out there, I have argued the whole gender thing way too much to ever want to ride that road again). For me, it is literally like we must all pretend when it comes to this issue beyond male and female. Not trying to be negative but, for me, it is like believing in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. Something that my head tells me isn't real, or the truth, as we often see things in truths. So I can't see it as anything other than not true (for lack of a better wording).

It is understandable that other people would have difficulty wrapping their heads around how I see the world, without seeing it from their own point of view, and thus getting it all wrong.

On a side note: I have never said that people of other genders shouldn't exist, or anything of that nature. If I ever hate on them, I would expect negativity back in my direction over it. As it would be justifiable.
