This is the problem some fans are not realizing - could we have gotten better players and/or assets -- SURE but if the goal was to free up cap space for the future then this deal works even if on paper talent for talent it sucks. Also could you all be right and cronin is a complete idiot -- very well might be but again let's wait and see I understand why fans are unhappy when I 1st heard about it I was like WTF is this but I am willing to see how this plays out before losing my mind and having a complete meltdown.
I never said I WANTED to make room to play the young guys, (personally, I don't think any of them are any good..) I said, this forum (sportstwo/blazers) wanted that. And Powell's stats mean nothing. He did not make the Portland TrailBlazers a better team. RoCo, at least had his moments and flashes with tipped passes and blocked shots. Winning plays. So, for me, I guess this is the ol' "Addition By Subtraction"...
That's your opinion. The fact is they had positive value around the league and we didn't take advantage of that. It's really simple. Please figure it out.
If he has a specific target that let's say makes about 33M and they want Nurk and Ant for that guy, plus a bunch of money that drops off at the end of this season... then having Bledsoe's money that can drop off and match 18M of that 33M makes more sense than having RoCo's 12.9M. And that can be plugged in with any combo of players. So the only thing that makes sense is that we have a specific trade on the table with another team that needed a different amount of money coming in than we could have put together with players we're willing to give up. Still though, we should have made the Clippers pay a lot more in draft assets to get that much better.
Both players were at the nadir of their value. Norm felt like a slight to modest negative asset depending on team to me and Roco is an expiring with a questionable playoff track record + past his prime. Tax savings, slightly better prospect than Keon who I did like somewhat in the draft and a heavily protected first was a best case return.
Have fun losing your minds cause at this point nothing that is said will change people's minds Now we just wait and see what happens .... everyone have a good day might check in later but nothing productive is coming from these posts atm. Get all your anger out and maybe some commonsense will come with time
again... im almost certain you can't combine bledsoe's deal with any of our other contracts in a non-simultaneous trade. we can move bled one for one, but not with Nurk and Ant.
Dude as has been pointed out to you ad nauseam we didn't clear enough cap space to really make a difference given what we owe guys and the cap holds on Ant and Nurk. Don't get me wrong though there are possible logical reasons that we brought back the players we did... they just aren't the reason that you're holding onto despite the fact that many people have very clearly explained to you why you're wrong. Even if there are good reasons (another trade) for the players that we brought back, it still really doesn't explain why Cronin couldn't get more than a 2025 second rounder due to the discrepancy in value of the players being exchanged.
Correct, unless we do it in combination with this trade. Once this trade is made official with the league office, Bledsoe can only be moved on his own
Not that we'll do anything with it, but I believe we should generate about a 6 million TPE with this deal.
This trade was made to get under the tax no matter what without caring what we gave up or took in. Everyone in the r/nba fans from every team around the league is laughing at us. We did a good job making the Clippers really good though. The dark days are getting darker.
Shit, I think you're right but there might be a window on that where this trade becomes a three teamer. We'll just have to see. I do believe that more will happen before the deadline that will be the reason why this trade made sense to Cronin but I sincerely doubt that it will satisfy most of us even if we do end up better than we were before today because like I've been saying you can't just gift the Clippers that much talent without getting value back in return.
