The Blazers lease is ending in a few years, Jody and the Vulcans have held off any extensions talks that the city is willing to engage in. Plus the cost cutting moves and lack of building a contender could be signs the team will be moved. What city do you think the Blazers are most likely to be moved to? Seattle - bigger city no NBA team and could most retain the Portland fanbase Las Vegas - growing, has an NFL team, huge tourist and events to attract revenue Los Angeles - Players have the largest presence here of any city, desirable weather in the NBA season, and big enough to support a third team. Vancouver - History of a team here, would stay in the region, and expand the Canada market Austin - Massive recent influx of company headquarters, tech, largest city without a pro sports team, close to Dallas/Houston/San Antonio
Fuck outta here.. blazers ain’t leaving our city. The NBA bent over backwards to keep the Kings in Sacramento. And that’s a worse ran franchise known for decades of incompetence. After the Sonics leaving Seattle debacle the NBA never wants to uproot a well known market with great fan support. Their still getting killed publicly about the Seattle situation…
Okay really. The nba is not forcing us to Seattle, which would be the only thing remotely realistic. Jody isnt moving this team. She might sell and new owners might look at Seattle, but that's about as close to the Blazers leaving as i can realistically think of. Otherwise the nba isn't going to go without a team in the nw. Just too many nba fans and money to be lost out on.
Now wait just a minute!!!! Americon told me that twice yesterday! Somebody's either lying or exaggerating greatly, now, which is it? But, yeah, this is an extremely stupid thread.
I could see the Vulcans thinking that if they move the team to Seattle they would still keep the following in Portland, but be in a bigger market.
Las Vegas will likely have a team this decade but hopefully not yours. Sports have been banned in Tupelo since 1981.
Yes I agree. Plus Jody Allen, Bert Kolde, Bill Hilf all live in Seattle, and the Vulcan's biggest sports team is in Seattle. Makes sense they want to combine everything up there, and try to maintain the market to Portland fans that you can drive 2 hours and still follow your team.
Chaos spilled out because Eddie ‘Spaghetti’ Gilbert got screwed on the behind the ref’s back eye gouge. Hardly the malice in the palace.
I'm sure nobody ever thought the Sonics would leave Seattle either. What happened? They got ownership that was motivated to move the team and they found a way to do it. What do we currently have? Ownership that has zero loyalty to Portland. The NBA would have to step in to protect us.
I can barely afford to drive 10 minutes to the game (meaning pay for tickets, etc.) They can go fuck themselves if they move. I'd stop being a fan and id be done with the NBA too cause the only reason I watch is because we have a local team.
