Can easily do multiple deals and absorb him into a trade exception if we need to.

Correct....has to be a 1-for-1....like for Justice Winslow.

well, if they really want CJ, then

    CJ + Snell for Randle + Burks/Noel

    Winslow for Reddish

It does look like we generated a 6.5 million TPE in our Norm/Roco deal, which would be enough to land Reddish.

I dont think you even need to give up winslow. We'd create a sufficiently sized tpe to absorb Reddish. Just need to keep cognizant of roster spots tho.

Graham last year only guaranteed for like 2.5. I'd definitely prefer to route him elsewhere, but if he helps us land another pick, we just use him as instant offense off the bench, like Utah does with Clarkson.

I still don't necessarily buy that the first deal is connected to the hopeful next deal, but if we needed to create a TPE to be able to absorb Reddish, that'll make it feel a tiny bit better

CJ + DSJ for Randle + Gibson --> 5.9 mil TPE
TPE + future second for Reddish.

Waive Zeller unless you find a taker for Ben Mac to open up a roster spot.

    I'd be OK with this.

From a talent perspective a CJ for Randle + Reddish deal would be a homerun given what Cronin just got back in the other deal.

ya i think that deal is gonna stand on its own as our tax saving move. We are sufficiently under the tax threshold now that we can make other moves where we take equal salary without worrying about tax implications.

not with Burks or Noel coming back. Or even Walker. There's not enough margin

It would have to be Randle + Taj.

personally, I do not see the attraction to Reddish. He's a poor shooter and a poor rebounder for 6'8. Is he really any better than Winslow?

I'd rather have one of Burks/Noel and as many draft picks as Portland can squeeze out of them....like a 1st and a couple of 2nds

“CJ McCollum and Portland, a couple of teams have been fairly aggressive in their pursuit — New Orleans, the New York Knicks,” Woj said. “McCollum has a lot of value around this league. You know what you’re getting with him. This is a player who adds a lot of maturity to any locker room he’s in. Certainly a dynamic offensive player.

And so I think for Portland you saw them get off significant salary with the Norman Powell trade and moving Robert Covington out. So I think right now, they can wait and see what is the package that they would want to get back for McCollum. But they’re very much engaged in talks. I think by the end of the trade deadline it will be a very different looking Portland Trail Blazers roster.”

Wait are you Cronin? That would explain this proposal and some of the others I've seen you make. This is an outright salary dump with legit NOTHING coming back. This is worse than the actual trade Cronin just did. Unreal!

Here is one of the reasons the the Blazers are listening to what the Knicks and the Pelicans have to offer. BOTH teams currently each have 24 draft picks between now and 2028,

i think the appeal with Reddish stems from his play when he's gotten consistent minutes. But the intel around him after his ATL departure has painted him as a guy who wants to be spoonfed touches/shots while his defensive numbers took a nosedive this year. I've been comparing him to Nas quite a bit this year and showed how our guy is better.

(but yes, he's much better than Winslow).

As Woj described above, the Knicks and the Pelicans are two teams that have been heavily linked to a McCollum swoop. However, the same can be said for the Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks, too. Needless to say, the Blazers veteran guard is a wanted man in the market right now.

With this being the case, Portland could bide their time here. A bidding war for McCollum could be imminent — if it hasn’t started already — and the Blazers should be very careful in picking the best package that will suit their needs.

Let’s not forget that Damian Lillard isn’t getting any younger and there’s no denying that his prime years are winding down. McCollum is one of this team’s last remaining major assets and this trade could be make or break for them in terms of Dame’s legacy in Portland.

We created a TPE in our deal with the Clippers, so we have one large enough to absorb Reddish if we so desired.

Reddish is also a RFA this summer, btw.

Does a Dame-Ant-(Nas/Reddish)-Randle-Nurk lineup make us better than we've been?

Books would be much cleaner after extensions.

i don't think we're gonna touch that. any players absorbed into that would put us back into the tax.

    yeah, I saw that

I just can't see him as the make or break component of this trade though

It definitely allows Randle to play his more natural position. I like him and playing next to Nurk would be noice.
