Woj says the plan is to now pursue high end talent..

mmmkay. Shouldn’t that always be the pursuit? Now we’re banking on free agent signings? Lol

I don't think people's criticisms of the return are unfounded, regardless of the need to tear it down to an extent and try to reload. I just think it's too early right now and other factors need to be considered before we can really have a full view of whether these trades were a success or a failure. I also don't think the trades that brought in the players dealt in the last few days are really relevant.

What's the Blazers definition of high end talent?

Only if Zion comes back and can actually play. Outside that, I don't see it happening for them. Their defense just got a bit of a downgrade with CJ for Hart.

I'm depressed, capspace means shit here. I thought this might mean they want to resign Nurk but apparently they're trying to trade him too. I don't see any scenario, given we aren't going to get any meaningful free agents, how the outcome of all this makes us better next year. The grass is not always greener, no matter how much an incompetent interim GM and some fans on a message board think it is.

I really am starting to wonder if Dame is going to start thinking about leaving, especially if we give Nurk away in the same fashion. This looks like a total rebuild during his prime. Instead of trying to get better we just blow it up and get a pile of shit in return.

Haven't felt this down on the team in a long time.

Can't waif for the 'Polishing of the Turd' edition of Rip City Radio when Travis comes on. He was really working the polish of the Powell/RoCo trade. The next white-washing should be interesting.

Who can we get for 16 mil of capspace?

If Cronin tries to sell you the capspace/FA plan, please please please don't fall for it.

It just depends on what you mean by the worst deals. Do I think that Cronin turned down more talent in order to clear more money? Yeah I do. Do I think that a lot of veteran GMs would have gotten more in draft assets while dumping salary??? Again, I definitely do. These aren't things I can prove but without exception around the internet right now (Twitter, Reddit, etc.) no Pelicans fans have a problem with this deal at all. Same thing with Clippers fans since Friday. We didn't come close to putting the screws to these teams, they got over on us because we just wanted to clear salary and they knew it. I'm just saying that due to so many uninterested parties and people on our side saying we left picks on the table... we left picks on the table.

I don't get it - what did Nance show? Besides the usual injury bug what I saw on the court was meh. Lousy scorer, shitty from 3, decent rebounder. Decent D? glad he's gone

Not this year. This year we want to lose, and lose a lot. This give the Blazers a huge TPE to get a good player back for nothing. This gives the Blazers the opportunity to get a top 5 draft pick this year, which could give the Blazers an instant contributor, and gives the Blazers money in the offseason to sign players that actually fit the system, and not just scoring SGs who don't defend.

If the Blazers walk away from this deadline with Myles Turner or Jerami Grant (Bledsoe or TPE and NOP 1st), Josh Hart, NAW, and a top 5 pick this year, with the MLE to sign more depth in the offseason, and a re-signed Simons, you don't think that makes the Blazers instantly better with Dame back next year?

So we are getting hosed even worse than the initial account suggests? Oh joy.

I wonder if CJ McCollum would qualify as high-end talent? Definitely higher than most of the talent we have on the roster now.

I'm hoping the emphasis is on both talent and fit, not just talent.

But, for all you know, the trust orders her to break the hearts of Blazer fans so they won't object to the team being moved. It's nothing more than speculation on everyone's part.

The product on the court really has very little to do with the value of the franchise, anyway. Look at the Clippers, as an example. I could see a good argument being made for the most desirable scenario for a prospective buyer being one star (Lillard) for marketing purposes, and total roster flexibility to work with around him.
