Trade CJ McCollum to New Orleans

Apparently, our new PF is named Godot, and we're all still waiting for him.

 

Top FAs this year are Beal, Harden, Irving, LaVine... and honestly not much else. DeAndre Ayton, Donte DiVincenzo, and Collin Sexton are RFAs.

 

Couldn’t even get Hayes?!

This is beyond underwhelming

 

I'm sure he is busy celebrating this wonderful deal.

 

Didn't Hayes just have a run-in with law enforcement?

 

I'm pretty sure we CHOSE not to get Hayes, in favor of NAW instead. Probably downgraded a first round pick into a second as well in that exchange.

 

I'm guessing we could have got him, but Blazers declined for "cultural" reasons.

 

Stevie Wonder knows it's a good deal for New Orleans.

 

Oh so now that we've traded four solid starters whose names are known around the league for a bunch of nobodies... this is the time that we'll start trying to get superstars.

So we take four $600,000 houses, sell them for $300,000 and expect to be able to buy a $5,000,000 mansion or two with what we made off of the sale of the homes. I don't think that works because we just took on huge losses, we can't afford superstars now.

To abandon the analogy, the only way we were going to get better players was by packaging our 5 or 6 good players together to get 2 better players. Now people are acting like we're a free agent destination... that money will go unspent or very much more likely be misspent badly.

 

If we can get THAT Godot for PF I'm sure interest in the Blazers will skyrocket. Not a lot of scoring but a ton of oogling.

 

The Nance inclusion is bugging me.
I guess I'll wait for the 3-team deal to get done.

 

To be fair, pursuing high end talent would be major strategic shift for this front office.

 

that's my biggest gripe.

 

When people settle down on how talent-lite this trade is coming back, I think your take will resonate more and make more sense. We're not competing for anything this year and we're setting ourselves up to be able to sign Anfernee and re-sign Dame for the super elite max extension - plus adding some pics which we haven't really had in a few years to rebuild with. I'm good with this since I'm guessing Dame is off the table.

 

I wanted to say the rumor of it's not done yet could be BS but someone correct me if i am wrong we have not seen either the Blazers or NO confirm this trade so very possible there is more coming aka a 3rd team involved.
