She must have been at least a senior in high school by the time you were in the fifth grade. Ah, I see now. Infatuation with the older woman, you dog you. As a side note, did you know that her father, Karl Halverson, developed Mountain Park? I remember when it was mostly farm land and my cousin and I would go there to target shoot our .22s. One of the farmers there had a target range that he let anyone use. Never saw anyone else there but sure saw a lot of targets riddled with holes. My cousin and I were early or maybe preteens when we saw a bull chase a cow around finally catching and mounting it. The farmer came out and beat the bull off with a rake (no, Sly, get that grin off your face, it wasn't that kind of beating off). Guess he was worried about the bull breaking the legs of the cow. At our age you can guess what our reaction was, yep, we laughed our asses off.
Karen (Miss) Halverson was my 5th Grade teacher at Palisades Elementary. Would've been around 1967. We may be talking about two different Karen Halversons. Not sure.
At that time the Karen I'm thinking of would have been out of high school but too young to have graduated from college.
