Okay.... the tank is crashing....... But this is a good thing. Yes, we might be losing our pick. Yes, this might hurt us in the offseason..... BUT there are some major positives from this. We are finally getting to see Chauncey-ball and it's a fucking thing of beauty. This is some refreshing basketball. This is what I have been missing so badly in the last few years with all the iso ball and the selfish play and the horrible horrible horrible defense. We needed affirmation that Chauncey is a good coach and I think we are getting that in spades. We are also seeing how horribly toxic our team was. This is what team basketball looks like. We are also giving Simons a chance to really show what he can do. This is the first step towards earning the respect of the league and the refs. Simons shot 4 free throws. That's absurd. Morant shot 25. It's just silly. We are allowing Chauncey to put his stamp on the team and this summer needs to be about going out and getting guys who buy into this system. That's how the Spurs were able to have success for so long. They got guys who fit their culture. We need to do that. So whether we make the playoffs or not, we are really building something for next season, and that's so important. This is the first time I have felt really good about our team in a while. I have hope for the future and that's priceless.
Yeah, Billups style of play is breath of fresh air. It’s more reliant on getting out in fast break, ball movement, help side defense. Not as much dribbling the air out of the basketball like we watched before. I think Chauncey will be an outstanding coach and really he’s about as wet behind the ears as it gets, being that it’s really his first coaching gig. Stotts really just kinda rolled the ball out there and let them play. But one of the things that bugged me about Stotts the most is he never really kicked the tires and saw what he had on the bench. He rarely played young guys, had a short leash when they did.
It's also a good thing in the sense the players we acquired are possibly improving their values more than the lost value in our draft pick.
Remember when Phoenix surprisingly went 8-0 in their bubble games and just BARELY missed the play-in? Reminds me of our play right now. They went out and got CP the offseason following and the rest was history.
My concern is that CP3 is perfect to slide seamlessly into a team with another #1 option on offense. Dame is just a different guy.
i'd be happy to work out kinks this summer after getting reps with lower expectations so we can hit the ground running in Oct.
I am having the weirdest conflicts right now. I've been conditioned to be let down but my god is this fun to watch and it's a new coach who is ENCOURAGING this play and it's... Ah, I can't. I can't. DAMNIT IT FEELS GOOD TO HAVE GOD DAMN HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.
Remember how that post of mine last week about having no faith in the FO was just too sad for you? Well this post of yours about having hope in the future is just too much for me to resist joining you. Your hope has (dare I say) "reached around" and impacted me too.
It's highly unlikely that if we're playing for a spot in the play ins/playoffs that Dame won't come back a few weeks before the regular season ends. He was getting shots up at the practice facility more than a week ago, it seems like. So if the normal recovery time is 4-6 weeks for this surgery (it will have been six weeks when we play our next game) and we're being conservative with his return I can't really imagine that he wouldn't make the team let him play if after 9 weeks of recovery and conditioning he's pain free.
Son of a bitch. You gone and done it! It's a good feeling. I know it'll have ups and downs but it'll be a fun ride. .... That sounds really bad in the context of you talking about reach arounds.
