The result is Ant learns to not be loyal to Portland since we turn our back on that the first moment our loyal star is down. Terrible precedent.
About the time scouting catches up with us we'll have a schedule of Pacers, Pistons, Spurs, Rockets, Rockets, Thunder, Pelicans, Spurs, Spurs, Thunder and Pelicans. I'm not saying we'll win all of those games but even with scouting reports those teams are inferior to us. The tank is over. I actually think we have a good chance of getting into the 7/8 game, winning it and getting this young team some playoff experience and also figuring out just how well the pieces fit together against top flight teams. Again while we do lose one lottery pick we gain the ability to use all of our future picks in a trade.
Potential franchise altering player in the draft like Dame >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> first round playoff loss……..again
The fact is that there aren't any sure fire prospects in this draft as far as sure fire all stars and there definitely aren't any sure fire all nba or mvps. Obviously Dame wasn't one of those either and one of the guys in this draft is probably going to be a big time superstar but due to there being no consensus there is a great possibility that if our front office identifies who they think that player is, they will be able to trade the Pelicans pick and a future first to move up and get that player. The draft lottery will still be very interesting for us and then I expect us to be very active during the draft as well.
i have a feeling chemistry at least on the court was one of our biggest issues. We had a couple of ball stoppers that were preventing us from playing unselfish basketball. Nothing against Norm but he wasn’t the defender we thought he was and he knew one way to play shoot almost every time he got it. We all know CJ rarely passed where this team seems to enjoy making the extra pass. I always like the Pop saying “there’s a good shot and a better shot, I want the better shot” think I heard Billups say similar thing in his post game press conference.
What is the chance the Blazers get a franchise altering player at the top of the draft? 2%? Pretty freaking low. Look how many weren't drafted in the high lottery: Kawhi, Giannis, Butler, Jokic, Siakim, Mitchell, etc. It's about 50/50 if a star is high in the lottery or deep in the draft. Not sure why you want to root for losses. The GM did all he could to tank. But this coach, Ant, and patchwork roster is too good for that. Enjoy the wins instead of dreaming of losses.
3 of the people you mentioned were franchise altering players. What it does is allow you the best opportunity at drafting those players. Example Oden over Durant. No chance at Durant without that pick pre lottery, but Bowie over Jordan. Same thing It’s not the fault of the strategy that you pick the wrong guy.
Yeah, and what player is that? Only one looks like a slam dunk to be a starter with star potential. Everyone else is a roll of the dice.
That take is mediocre lol. Giannis is better than Dame and was around near where the Pelicans pick will be. Kawhi, Giannis, and Jokic are all franchise-altering players no doubt about it. Adding someone at Butler, Siakam, or Mitchell's level would change our trajectory with Dame and Ant there. We just need one more star-level guy and in this draft, he's as likely to be found at #12 or lower than #2-11. Only Jabari Smith looks like a surefire starter for a good team with a shot at being a star, the rest are huge question marks.
if you assume pick is 10 or lower: 17 Jrue Holiday 10 Paul George 11 Klay Thompson 15 Kawhi Leonard 19 Tobias Harris 30 Jimmy Butler 35 Draymond Green 39 Khris Middleton 12 Steven Adams 15 Giannis Antetokounmpo 27 Rudy Gobert 13 Zach LaVine 33 Joe Harris 38 Spencer Dinwiddie 39 Jerami Grant 41 Nikola Jokić 46 Jordan Clarkson 11 Myles Turner 13 Devin Booker 15 Kelly Oubre Jr. 22 Bobby Portis 40 Josh Richardson 11 Domantas Sabonis 20 Caris LeVert 27 Pascal Siakam 29 Dejounte Murray 36 Malcolm Brogdon 13 Donovan Mitchell 14 Bam Adebayo 19 John Collins 22 Jarrett Allen 23 OG Anunoby 45 Dillon Brooks 10 Mikal Bridges 11 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 12 Miles Bridges 14 Michael Porter Jr. 33 Jalen Brunson 37 Gary Trent Jr. 11 Cameron Johnson 12 P.J. Washington 13 Tyler Herro 28 Jordan Poole 29 Keldon Johnson 12 Tyrese Haliburton 15 Cole Anthony 19 Saddiq Bey 30 Desmond Bane they are few and far between but there are gems outside of the top-10 in every draft. Long odds but there's no chance if it's not taken
The whole point was to dump players for cap space. As of now, he's done jack and shit with it. When he's done something with it, that's the time.
The dude tried to make the team worse this year and they're accidently good because Chaunceys gotten them functioning like a team. What Cronin crow?
