There is almost no chance the Pelicans are worst-4 bad.
Orlando, Detroit, Houston are pretty much guaranteed to not win 23 games (the current amount of wins the Pels have).

OKC will probably pass that amount but finish behind them.

The issue is the worst 6 have a legitimate chance at the top 4, and the Pels are looking like a lock for a bottom 6 record (or close to it).

exactly that's what I am talking about, would rather have them at 7-10 for better odds

Yeah wherever they end up 5-10 we just have to have them get a little unlucky or if you want to look at it in a positive light we have to get just a little lucky but even if they're at 5 the odds will be better than 50/50 that we keep the pick.

CJ with another monster night. However, Ingram has struggled since CJ’s arrival.

I'd like to have two lottery picks, but I'll take the Pels in the 5-10 range if that's all we get. This will be a deep draft!

Yeesh, Luca with 35 shots tonight against the Pels. He took 43% of the Mavs' shots.

Is this draft deep? Or you mean the talent is relatively flat after say #1 or so to 15 or so?

I look at this draft as one guy really above the others, then three or four guys that are that next tier that have the capabilities to be major difference-makers if they reach their ceiling, and then there are about eight guys that I consider pretty close and after that it's an absolute crapshoot.

Like, I look at Bennedict Mathurin and I think he COULD be something like Khris Middleton, but will he be that good? Probably not.

I like that Dragan guy you posted. Eastern European guys very often have a lot of grit which is sort of an "intangible". I also like Banchero obviously and then Keegan, Patrick Baldwin, and Jalen Duren (edit to add Jovic whoops!). Those guys all look to have the tools. Skills can be taught, physical gifts cannot. I should add I'm ignoring guys under 6'7". Since the combine hasn't happened if some of these 6'6" guys have insane 7'4" wingspans or something maybe I would reconsider.

That's definitely my guy at #1 and it's not close.

    Yeah.

And then my next group is Paolo, Ivey, Sharpe and Chet, presuming Sharpe enters the draft.

And I'm not a Chet believer. I wouldn't take that gamble. However, if he can put it all together, he could be really good.

You have Sharpe that high? Huh. Again I haven't been looking much at wings. I've been concentrating on guys who can conceivably play PF.

Yeah, I like Sharpe. I think his analog is Brandon Roy, 6-6 wing with range and midrange game and a very smooth delivery on his shot.

Again, I don't think he ends up that good, but you put a guy who just can shoot like that with a couple of other players that demand defensive attention and they can be absolutely deadly just by having that one skill -- shot-making.

On the Pels BR board they are all talking about how they ripped off PDX with CJ, when I pointed out empty stats don’t equal wins nothing but crickets.

Yeah I'm of the same mindset as you then but the guys that do this for a living are all over the place with their draft boards this year. There is no consensus number one and there are no consensus tiers. I would all but guarantee this draft has NBA front offices in similar situations. I'm sure a small majority have their draft boards pretty similar but I bet 40% of them are all over the place. Guys like Jovic, Griffin, Mathurin and Davis have been mentioned as top 4 picks. Maybe the tourney and combine will help straighten some shit out but I kind of doubt it. I know from listening to podcasts that supposedly have sources, that there are GMs around the league that still have Paolo or Chet as their number one pick. It should be very interesting and I hope the Pelicans pick makes it so we're right there in the mix.

Every team needs a guy like CJ. Problem was we had two or three
