Only two players he brought in has had a positive impact. One was someone pretty much everyone advocated for in a CJ trade (Hart). The other is someone who wasn't exactly valued in the trade and is still a terrible deal (Winslow). No crow here.
Player on a new team plays (briefly) above his established performance level. (EG Stauskas) That's called a "fluke."
How do you know Winslow wasn't valued in the trade? He wasn't valued in this forum when the trade went down but that doesn't mean Joe didn't value him. I think we won that trade going away and if Keon turns out to be good, it was a flat out steal.
I valued Winslow when the trade was announced and posted about it, I knew he would be a good fit and a Chauncy guy, the only real Q was/is can he stay healthy? so far so good
Yep. And Billups coached him in LA so Joe probably got Winslow for that very reason. I think Winslow is great. Kawhi-lite.
Anyway I've never seen this fanbase overreact so much to four games where we only played one good, healthy team.
I think of Winslow as Draymond Green Lite. Josh Hart isn't lite anything. He's an efficient scoring SG who can play defense and rebound. It's not hard to think that Cronin was looking to emulate Golden State or at least it was on his mind. We have the All Star PG.
Which teams the Blazers beat doesn't matter in the regular season. The more wins the better. The only real measuring stick is the playoffs.
The clippers deal will never look good no matter what. Bledsoe isn’t even playing. Winslow playing well but he was more of a filler than anything. Keon might be solid someday. And some crappy second round pick. What the clippers get? A solid SG who’s under contract for 4 more after this one. And RoCo who’s a solid two way player. Powell alone was worth more than what we got. Heck I rather have what Cavs traded for LeVert with. We would’ve had a true expiring contract in Rubio, a legit 1st round pick. And some second round picks. Instead now we are dreaming for a Bledsoe and picks for grant deal?
We were playing very boring basketball. Now, we're playing very exciting basketball. The contrast is extremely stark - in fact I've never seen this in the Blazers. It's not just about the wins.
I think the Blazers should blast YMCA after every home win the rest of the season. Do we play the Lakers at home again? That would be epic.
The Trail Blazers play who is on the schedule. The game before winning four in a row, the Blazers lost to ORLANDO at home and were counting losses as victories. Fans aren't over-reacting. It's a different team. We have a starting lineup of Simons, Hart, Elleby, Winslow, and Nurkic. These are not the 2021 Trail Blazers.
I mean, I was asking for this for years. Happy to see it, but this team still isn't talented enough. There's not a chance they compete in a playoff series IMO. This is still a lottery level team at the moment.
