In the few games I have seen of Eubanks, he looked decent. Not sure how much bigger he is than Watford though. He is about 7 lbs heavier but Watford is much longer. Either way, this gives the Blazers the option of sitting/resting Nurk for various games. No reason to run Nurk into the ground for the rest of the season.

Billups mentioned how they were lucky to get a guy like Eubanks at this stage of the season. Eubanks also mentioned how 4-5 other teams wanted him.

Looking at his career numbers and he compares favorably to Zeller, and tops him in pretty much every category on a per/100 possession basis. Zeller might be a couple inches taller but their wingspan is the same and their weight looks pretty comparable too.

They signed Zeller for a reason. Eubanks has a similar skillset and is the better rim protector/rebounder. Would be surprised if his stay was only ten days.

Popovich loved Eubanks. Almost universally claimed as one of his most favorite players.

Could we theoretically sign Eubanks to a deal similar to Watfords (yes I know we would have to waive someone)

The Blazers used most of their MLE to sign Watford to his multi-year deal. The Blazers could sign Eubanks for the remainder of the season and would probably have to resign him in the offseason if they choose to keep him long term.

Not exactly sure how the disabled player exception works when deciding to keep a player brought in with it for the remainder of the season. I believe the Blazers would be able to sign him to a second 10 day contract, but would then have to waive a player to open a spot to keep him. I could be wrong.

Didi Louzada would be the best bet to be waived.

looks like a lot of moving parts there.

Eubanks signed a 3 year deal less than 2 years ago so he wouldn't have been eligible for an extension yet. But, Toronto waived him so that contract doesn't matter.

Blazers have no Bird rights on him so they'd have to use part of their MLE if they signed him this year...unless they sign him to a minimum contract. But the max length on a minimum is 2 years. A longer deal would require that MLE. Now, he's a 4 year vet so his minimum, this year, is around 1.8M. A 4 year deal like Watford's, with raises, would probably be around 8M

Pretty sure they can keep signing him to ten days as long as the four long term injured players remain out.

Louzada tore his meniscus last month, but also has a guaranteed contract for next season. It’s not a big guarantee but it’s still a guarantee.

If we signed Eubanks for the rest of the season would he become unrestricted or restricted?

edit: Hughes and elleby aren’t guaranteed next season. Maybe they’ll spend the next month or so evaluating them along with Eubanks. If Eubanks sticks they can waive one of those two. If all three play well maybe they take the hit on Louzada.

Zeller, even when healthy, is spent. I would much rather have Eubanks.

Yeah I didn’t really like Zeller even when he was on the court. Eubanks seems like a good fit. We’ll see how he plays, but I’m more intrigued by him than any other ten day we’ve had in recent memory.

Watford's wingspan 3" more than Eubanks.

Watford has been superb for an undrafted rookie. Eubanks is a Billups Ball player who will bring toughness, consistency, and experience. Great pickup.

Yes, they could sign Eubanks for the remainder of the season on a prorated minimum.

Why are we saying we used "most" of our MLE? If it's a 4 year, 5.8M deal, isn't the first year only like 1.3M? Shouldn't we still have like 5M left?

Whatever their measurements are, Eubanks plays above the rim whereas Watford doesn't. I wouldn't be surprised to see Winslow throw a lob up to Eubanks (not that he's a high flyer, but he is capable of catching and dunking at the hoop).
