Nuclear winter? Well, for example, instead of 1% of people dying you could be looking at 99%.

Just depends how many people decide to let their nukes fly after Russia does... Or how crazy Putin is. He could kill everyone if he chose to do so. Russia alone has far more nuclear weapons than are necessary to kill every single person on Earth.

The threat of Nuclear war has been there for what 90 years? Ain't worrying about that threat on the day to day. Won't do it.

You asked how it would be worse than covid-19. That's how.

It's not likely, but it wasn't likely that Russia was going to full on attack Ukraine either. There is no up side. It will hurt everyone. Russia will even be worse off.

Putin isn't being logical, and that's pretty terrifying.

However, yeah, I still doubt he pushes the button just to watch the world burn. Unless he no longer cares about his family...

I wore out a lot of sneakers protesting Iraq war so that affected my daily life. Obviously Ukraine war doesn't change my life the way it does for Ukrainians. But it is sure changing where I put attention. How I evaluate people. Do they give a crap or not?

Until he actually sends one off. Somebody needs to worry about it. I guess you are right it ain't gonna be me but the possibility exists so maybe it's time to start reducing the threat?
Same with it being time to trade in my truck for an EV? Cost me $100 yesterday to fill the tank. Yeah it is having an effect.

Look at the bright side. Higher gas prices will force people to rethink combustion motors a bit. Might save the planet?

I think even if he doesn't care about himself (which would be a given if he were to launch nukes), most people are concerned about their legacy.

I've always thought this is why MAD works.

Are you denying this occurred under Obama. That isn’t an opinion, it’s a fact.

Cute how you took the word “believe” and discredited an entire article over it. Trying way too hard.

Sanctions on all of Russia. Yes. The whole population. Russia should be cut off from the rest of the world until they get their shit together and take Putin down.

US should stop importing the nearly 700k barrels of oil per day from Russia. That would be a good start.

Absolutely. And send out stimulus to offset the increased costs to those who need it.

Should have kept their money in this country. Sorry for their loss but it is entirely their money managers fault. Not the fault of the sanctions or the administration in charge. There was plenty of warning and they should have moved their investments.
