Can you imagine the great John Wooden or Bobby Knight agreeing to coach under these conditions? Those guys were all about winning, and they would never sacrifice a few games just to get an extra advantage the next year.

They also didn't have the Paul Allen Family Fortune to draw from. As some point you got to spend some money. Certainly doesn't seem like they are willing.

All i know is this sucks and there is absolutely no guarantee they will be any better next year. Or the year after that?

It's not a guarantee at all, but this is the most likely option to compete at the highest level without trading Dame.

And if it doesn't work, we can still trade Dame if he decides he wants to leave.

They did have more resources and could bring in more talent than most other teams.

There was no way we could buy our way a championship contending roster, regardless of Paul Allen's fortune. That said, I'd love to see somebody with a similar fortune who loves basketball and wants to compete buy the team from Paul Allen's trust.

It was an incredibly rough game, let's hope the worst of the last 23 but it doesn't mean all of the games are going to be this way. Let's assume that we're putting squads out there that are about this good the rest of the season. After March 20th our guys won't be getting down by this many points so the issue that your moving to being concerned about today, won't be there anymore. Don't get me wrong if the franchise wants any of what's happened over the last six games to be for anything they'll continue to put teams on the floor that give us the best chance to get the best asset possible in the draft. Like I said yesterday you've been through a couple thousand losses as a day one fan of the team... show a little patience.

As far as this idea that we're teaching bad habits, I just don't see it. These are almost exclusively guys who will need to give it everything they have to stay in the league, even in blowouts (which will be most of their playing time unless they pop). So they better not give up but we're playing a pretty small rotation and what you see as their will giving out might be fatigue... I watched the game too and that's what I thought. The only guy that didn't seem to be giving it full effort was Hart at times and that's understandable because he's a guy who is established and I'm sure hates losing as much as you do. I hate it to but at least it's for a sensible reason.

Great job using the worst analogy possible. A college coach always has to look like their team is competitive because keeping their recruits and landing new ones depends on it. They can only get worse in the future by doing poorly in the present. Even though you seem to be refusing to recognize this reality... that's just not the case in a league who determines their draft order and draft lottery odds based on teams' records in individual seasons, worst to best.

Your opinion on this is very loose but i can accept that is in fact your opinion.
If you would have said "This COULD BE the most likely option..." I would have agreed with you.
At this point i do not.

Again. Your opinion on this is noted because again it is purely an opinion.
Again i do not agree with it at this point. Yes i do understand the Trust has made over $700 million in donations and is no longer nearly as much as it used to be.

Makes sense. I just can't see a more likely way to do it.

Understood. I'd love to hear about alternative options?
Not a challenge, I've just not heard anything remotely possible proposed.

chauncey made a big fuss about bringing in winning guys. laughable comments at this point. with where they are on this full on tank, he should just not speak too many platitudes about winning and winning culture, etc.

Trading CJ, Powell, and RoCo for actual talent would have been nice. Though i know that ship has sailed.

curious how many of the players currently on the court do you guys think will be contributors on next years roster?

the coaching staff im concerned about. The players not so much. This isnt our team next year so if they build bad habits i doubt it will transfer to the players who will actually be playing next year.

Who was going to give up valuable players that helped us win on the court this year for them, when teams are acquiring them to try to win now?

I've not seen any scenerio in which we could have gotten better fits or talant in return for those guys. So we'd just be running it back rather than competing.
I also think Dame would have more likely to have demanded his way out.

    All just my opinions...
