People don't get it because there's actually some logic in not wanting the Pelicans to be atrocious.

We don't want them getting enough ping pong balls that they might wind up in the top four and we lose the pick. We don't want them to get into the play-in and grab lightning in a bottle and then we end up losing the pick.

We want them to drop one or two spots.

9 seasons. I think every team knows what CJ is capable of. Offers weren't going to magically change any months later. Saying that, I don't necessarily think that was the biggest haul we could have gotten.

You could be right about rest of games. I was one that thought they'd never tank, man was i wrong....

Honestly, it would be irresponsible for the front office not to tank with Dame out for extended time and CJ gone.

I almost never want the tank, but this is the situation in which it makes the most sense.

I know there isn't a Duncan in the draft but San Antonio wasn't tanking for him because they had no shot at the bottom two records. That being said they still didn't bring Robinson back when they could have and sat a bunch of their best players down the stretch of that season in 1997. That's not because Pop who wasn't competitive and doesn't have ethics it's because he is brilliant and wanted the best player possible to bolster a team that was already competitive. What they got was the cornerstone for a dynasty and a championship two seasons later.

It’s hard to say that it’s a “weak draft.” There’s no prospect that looks like Duncan in that they are a guaranteed superstar, but then again, how many of today’s superstars looked that way during the draft? Giannis? Jokic? Kawhi? It’s too hard to say this is a good draft or bad.

Not likely. If we can't get the Spurs or Kings to even pass us, it'll be tough for the Pels to out tank them. Pels will be no worse than 8th overall, IMO.

No lol. They’re in a play in spot. No way they’re gonna out tank the blazers and pacers too. Kings and Spurs are a possibility though

They are in same situation as we are sort of. Their two stars out CJ& Ingram. Waiting on the big guy. So, bag this season get a lottery pick 1-3 and come back next season a different team and fresh start.

I don't think CJ being out for a week and Ingram being back about the same time will make this team give up on trying to make the play in. We'll see though. No one seems to be as dedicated to the tank as we are.

Yeah, they don't have a guaranteed lottery pick like we do for tanking. They still lose it 5-14, and though they can get lucky, they're not going to out tank others into the bottom 4 this late. They'll still push for the play in. Likely get it because SA and Sacramento suck for us

It seems we can either lose out and hope for a top three pick and for SAS to somehow win enough games to overtake NOP or we can make the Play-in, knocking the Pels out and then los the Play-in on purpose to ensure two 1st rnd picks.

With three games against us and two games against the Pels, the Spurs could definitely give NOLA a run for their money for that final play in spot. We'll see what happens with the Lakers but they're a week out from AD being re-evaluated. The ninth and tenth spots in the West could be hotly contested.

Oh, I think it's pretty obvious that we're going for that first option but I guess that strategy could be fluid. I personally think we should try to lose out and trust that the Pelicans aren't going to beat the Lakers and Clippers in successive win or go home games.
