Look, as I had mentioned earlier, Snopes isn't your be all, end all source for facts. It's a sweet little mom & pop website that has its flaws and bents. As to sly posting the particulars related on Snopes, nothing is there that provides any rebuttals to my OP. In the bill, the vagueness of term "perinatal" is pertinent and somewhat concerning.
When did I ever say Snopes was bad?? I said they lean left and aren't the be all, end all source for so-called facts. OK, William F. Buckley's National Review leans right. So what? As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is what it is. https://www.nationalreview.com/corn...-decriminalizes-neglecting-newborns-to-death/ Maryland Bill Effectively Decriminalizes Neglecting Newborns to Death
In my non-legal-based reading of this I'm seeing "perinatal" being conflated with "perinatal death." You have a medical definition being used instead of the legal definition. In this latest article and the original article, both are basing horrific assumptions about the medical usage of perinatal. The inference that you and the authors of both articles are making is that this is some sneaky way half of America is going to use to kill babies. I can't state enough just how ludicrous and insulting that is. It's a dishonest argument. And you trying to double down with slippery slope is ridiculous. A real slippery slope is not providing pregnant women with free medical care. A real slippery slope is not providing newborns with free medical care. There is no secret liberal conspiracy to kill babies. I strongly suggest you look at more complete terms such as perinatal death and perinatal mortality to understand what the proposed law is and isn't about.
Snopes has debunked rumors circulating on the left. Although there is nothing on the left comparable to Trump or QAnon. They are far from mom and pop. No state is legalizing infanticide. Gays do not recruit children. Biden legitimately won the election. Critical race theory is taught in law school, not grade school. Trans women do not assault cis girls in public restrooms. And no, Virginia, the Bidens and heads of media companies are not facing trial at Guantanamo Bay.
So because Snopes has been wrong at some point and had to post a redaction and it's not perfect. Democrats are Obsessed with Killing BABIES! I simply cannot believe i have been drawn into this conversation? See ya.
Good response. In fact, you have my permission to change the title of this thread to something a bit more tame. Perhaps, include Bill 669 in the subject matter. What I'm truly attempting to relate here is that states such as Maryland and Texas (and, perhaps, others) are seemingly rushing in to get their respective agendas signed, sealed, and delivered prior to the forthcoming SCOTUS Roe vs. Wade spectacle. So-called personal rights are much more in play than ever before and Bill 669 will see to it that abortion rights are carried to the fullest extent possible. Who knows the outcome of that. Everything has a beginning, though. And, to me, in this day and age, it's not completely unimaginable to think that there are some who will want to have that power of control over, yes, even newborn infants, and (someday) the legal rights to do as they see fit. Again, everything starts somewhere and I was simply point out that bills of this nature might lend towards something much worse.
It is absolutely not imaginable that someone will say infanticide is legal. ABM is just making shit up in order to justify his goal of forcing every woman and barely pubescent girl to carry every pregnancy to term under every circumstance, no matter what. Because of course he and DeathSantis and male legislators know much more about a woman's pregnancy than she does.
Not that I'm directly aware of. However, I never said they were. I simply said, what they had reported wasn't entirely conclusive in this context. FWIW...... https://www.thewrap.com/snopes-mikkelson-plagiarism/ https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/deansterlingjones/snopes-cofounder-plagiarism-mikkelson
Confirmed by an internal audit, and disavowed, as a responsible and legitimate information company will do. They could have denied it or ignored it like Fox News and other extremist sites do when they are wrong. I'm comfortable with their response.
Has anyone checked to see if Chili's is secretly owned by democrats and the baby backs are actual baby backs?
No one has suggested legalizing infanticide, no matter what ABM speculates. It would be much closer to reality to say opponents of women's rights want to kill or imprison women to stop them from getting abortions. Both have happened and I can cite cases. Additionally, Republicans in various states are proposing bills that would outlaw abortion with prison time. In Texas, a legislator has proposed considering abortion a capital crime like murder.
What a bullshit thread this is like when the right was arguing that allowing gays to marry is gonna turn into allowing man and goat to get married, or whatever bullshit talking point the religious whackos tried to claim
DC Police Find 5 Fetuses in Home of Anti-Abortion Activist Lauren Handy Lauren Handy is one of nine people accused of blocking access to a D.C. abortion clinic in 2020 Washington, D.C., officers discovered five fetuses inside the Capitol Hill home where an anti-abortion activist lives, police say. Police went to 28-year-old Lauren Handy's home in the 400 block of 6th Street SE on Wednesday afternoon to investigate a tip about potential bio-hazard material at the house, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. The medical examiner's office collected the fetuses, and police are investigating, the department told News4. No further information was available about the fetuses, including where they came from. Handy is one of nine anti-abortion activists who were charged Wednesday with federal civil rights offenses after they blocked access to a reproductive health center and streamed it on Facebook, federal prosecutors said. The charges include violations of a federal law known as the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, or the FACE Act, which prohibits physically obstructing or using the threat of force to intimidate or interfere with a person seeking reproductive health services. The law also prohibits damaging property at abortion clinics and other reproductive health centers. The nine – Handy, and Jonathan Darnel, 40, of Virginia; Jay Smith, 32, and John Hinshaw, 67, and William Goodman, 52, of New York; Joan Bell, 73, of New Jersey; Paulette Harlow, 73, Jean Marshall, 72, of Massachusetts; and Heather Idoni, 61, of Michigan – also face a charge of conspiracy against rights. Prosecutors allege the group “engaged in a conspiracy to create a blockade at the reproductive health care clinic.” It was unclear, from court papers, how they met. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/...-of-dc-anti-abortion-activist-police/3013443/
