I wouldn't trust Cronin to make a trade on NBA2k22 let alone trade Dame JESUS CHRIST!

Strongly disagree but you will see in the years to come that the response to Covid was 0% medical/science and 100% political/economic and I do not mean anything to do with Biden or Trump. But let's leave it there.

People have been pissing and moaning about nearly every move. A lot of those same people were also upset about CJ being on the roster to start the season.

Nah, the Blazers have a storied history of making the wrong choice and they will have a storied future of it.

I think we gave up too much for RoCo and Powell and then we didn't get enough back for them, but, yeah, they aren't difference-makers. Still should've gotten more for them than we did, though.

CJ, I don't think it tells the whole story to say that he was subpar. He didn't shoot the ball well. He did get loose and create and lot of chaos on the Clippers to have to help on him, though, which, in turn, let guys like Nance kill LA on the boards, and that was a huge reason NO won.

We weren't contending with the lineup we had to begin the 2021-22 season.
Did you expect the Blazers to trade players that didn't make us a contender and get back someone that made us a contender?
My only point is that I believe the team next season will be better than the 2021-22 team when they were healthy.

I certainly don't want Cronin trading Dame for anything. We most certainly would get pennies on the dollar if Cronin did it. Fire Cronin. Hire a GM that knows what he is doing this offseason. The ownership is harder to change. While I want new ownership, that's not as easy as firing your gm.

Really? I feel like there were posters here last year thinking we could be in the top 4 in the West.

Who cares if they are better? We still will be a treadmill team.with no chance at contending without additional stars. Not gonna happen.

I want Cronin fired now... if he's staying there's no point in making any moves really because he fucking sucks. The fact is as bad as Vulcan is they can just take an obvious choice at GM and that obvious choice can make the decision of what direction we go in. If that new GM who either has a name and has a great basketball mind or has a history of great success, if that GM wants to move forward with Dame and they'll definitely understand things better than I do, then I'm all for it but if that new GM wants to move on from the Olshey era in every way and can get us a decent return for Dame that gives us a really good really young team... I'd be down for whatever. Just get Cronin the fuck out of here and get a basketball mind that has experience in a championship front office or just a big name who is brilliant. We'll move on from there.

What would you give up to get Roco on an expiring contract?

Not only did he not shoot a good FG%, he went 1-7 from 3, he was 0-2 from the line, he only had 3 assists despite being their PG, and he got cooked plenty of time on D. That was not $30m/year performance. Half that, maybe.

His roster, 3-10 is going to have a better supporting cast than Portland had during his time as a starter. However, I still don't think he'll be able to lead NOP to more playoff success than he had in Portland. Time will tell though.

I responded to your post and then I reread it and I don't think I understood it, so probably better that I let my head clear before I answer it. :-)

All true, but I don't think that refutes my point that he still had a largely positive impact for the Pelicans for the reason I explained.

Not only that, but it was one game. He had a lot of better games that helped get the Pelicans into a position where they could get into the playoffs. I don't think we can just brush that off and say a bad shooting night proves he's not worth the money he gets while he put up good numbers after the trade AND was key in getting his team playing well enough to make the play-in and then make it through the play-in on the road, no less.

If people don't understand why CJ is great for the Pels they need to listen to what Ingram said in the post game interview and then think about how all of that attention that CJ draws is going to affect that team when Zion comes back. They have a bright future because not only do I think he will have a big impact on the floor but he will impact these young guys, especially Zion in a very real way because he's a professional. The Pelicans, with their win tonight, made no doubt about the fact that they fleeced us in that deal.

Do we have an owner, period? We've got someone serving as like a conservator or executor, but that's more filling the shoes of an owner, not really being an owner. It's not entirely her money to spend.

I wish, I really wish I knew how that trade was negotiated where the Pelicans are sitting there with two late lottery picks and Cronin gives up a top offensive player and a role player that was worth a first-round draft pick just a few months earlier and doesn't get some kind of wording that give the Blazers one of those two picks. I really don't understand how that happens.

We'll never see that pick. It will be a throw in at some point.
