That's kind of an aside and is also accurate. Unless you disagree and want to explain how picks near the end of the 1st round are superior to 2nd round picks? I'm open to hearing about it, but you need to actually explain why I'm wrong. Also, the point was comparing Jerami Grant for 2025 Bucks pick (laaaate 1st round) to TWO mid-range 1st round picks for Roco is apples to oranges.
First, you're assuming it'll be a very late pick. The best "steal" trades usually result from a team being worse than expected when the pick comes around. Second, unless you think the draft is a crap shoot, a better pick is always preferable. To argue otherwise because of salary considerations is the most defeatist attitude imaginable, and would get you laughed out of every GM's office.
Got another one - We trade the 6th pick plus Ant plus A future #1 to the Lakers for LeBron. Maybe throw in Blevins trade Buck’s 2025 #1 and a 2nd this year to Detroit for Grant. Add Eric Bledsoe if possible. Dame / Williams LeBron / Hart / Keon Johnson Grant / Little / Ingles Watford / Winslow / Brown Nurkic / Eubanks / keep a spot open for McGee, etc.
Watching Giannis and Drey during the playoffs so far I can't help but see the value in Simmons. People have to remember that he's only like half a tick away from Giannis when it comes to athleticism, that he's a better ball handler than either of those guys, that he's a better passer than both and that he's just as good defensively as either. I wouldn't want to give up our mid lotto pick with how low people say his value is right now, along with the players it would take to match his salary. So if his value is really that low I think this trade might actually get the deal done. I added the Grant trade to give us a starting lineup of Dame, Ant, Grant, Simmons and Nurk. We could still use the TPMLE to add another rotation player to our bench along with Nas, Justise, Trendon, maybe Ingles and our second round pick. Assuming our pick ends up in the most likely place at 7th, we would trade that pick to the Hornets for the 13th and 15th. We trade Hart, Bledsoe and the 13th pick to the Nets for Simmons. We trade the 15th pick to the Pistons for Grant.
Can't afford that much salary. Rookie contracts are valuable and necessary. If we got Ben, I would just use the pick to draft someone and start Little.
[Someone has to propose it.] EBEC + Hart + Keon Johnson (not to be confused by me with Keon Clark ) + Bucks Pick = Simmons + Back Surgery Buy low. He's at low.
If the Nets would do that right now we would be idiots not to. Our Keon has the last name Johnson but I think this trade would be fantastic for us. I don't think the Nets would ever do it but, hey who knows?
That is true, but Hardin probably not good enough these days to make up for the loss. I do believe Hardin’s bank account is the real winner because Morey is the only one to pay what he wants.
Hart Bledsoe and the 13th pick for Simmons. Do you think the Nets go for that? I mean obviously, I'm in love with this idea. Not trading any core piece for Simmons, nor the draft pick (ours before your trade) um YES PLEASE?! I'm down on Simmons, but not THAT down.
I don't want to say the injury is fake or that Simmons is just putting on an act, but I heartily applaud his new nickname - Daniel Day-to-Day Lewis.
It’s time those Simmons fan boys, and you know who you are, come out and admit their love from Simmons was a bad call with how things have played out with the Nets. stay the heck away from Simmons at all costs, he has lost so much respect from fans and NBA players and now back surgery he is just digging himself into a bigger hole.
Just trying to get an all nba player on the team at little cost. That's all. If you think the guy will never play again or will never play close to the level he's already played for almost four full seasons... what are you smoking?
