Why would it have to be Simons?

Yup. We either go all-in on Dame and trade Simons for a player at a position of need....... or we go all-in on the future and trade Dame.

I'm not sure yet which direction I would go. If we can get a decent haul for Simons, it might make sense to trade him, start Hart at the two, and then draft a player that has a high ceiling for the future.

would I trade a decent 6'3 SG for a pair of decent 6'8 wings? yes, absolutely

and I say that as somebody who isn't fond of the idea of trading for Grant

Simons is quietly becoming a PG, you people are forgetting that. Only reason why he still a SG is because of Dame. The difference between 5 and 7 isn’t much. We are getting a forward either way. The question become if it worth gambling on Simon and his potential over a decent forward who by the way only has one more year left on his contract. Simons can easily become O’Neal 2.0 as soon as we trade him. I say trade for Grant with other asset. Resign Simons. Draft a forward. Bam we have Simons, Grant, and a rookie forward. What a dumb question to ask if we should trade up for #5

Could Simons/7th get us into the top 2?

I'm slipping. I wasn't able to get to as many Mongolian League games as usual.

Sharpe is going top 5, possibly to Sacto. Orlando might even want him, so I wouldn't be surprised by an Orlando-Sacto trade.

Because if this playoffs has taught us anything, it's the value of a non-shooting center...

He's the Scottie-Barnes-est player in this draft.

I hear you. Moving on in a classy, efficient way would be ideal.

I also TOTALLY UNDERSTAND that my desires as a fan have precious little to do with what the franchise should do... how many tickets should be purchased by fans watching a bad (as opposed to even mediocre) team so that I can feel better about the team's future on the court? How much money should the Blazers sacrifice so I can get excited about another lotter pick or two?

It's reasonable that their goals don't align with mine... so I guess I'm gonna disagree with my "I can't believe..." statement. But it's all disheartening.

Like I said: other than one season since 2014, he's played nowhere near a full season. You decided to include that one season and still didn't disprove my point.

    I reckon:
    Orlando: Banchero
OKC: Chet (to pair with Pokusevski to form the tallest, whitest and lightest frontcourt duo)
Houston: Smith (unless they want to have an all-guard lineup, in which case Ivey)
    Sacto: Imma go with Sharpe
Detroit: Ivey (not sure a Cunningham-Ivey backcourt works long term but it would fun as hell finding out)
    Indiana: Murray
Portland: should be Sochan but probably Mathurin or Duren or some shit.

I'm down with the Charlotte trade, but I say keep both and take Sochan and Dieng and I'll be very happy.

I thought that was a pretty wildly inaccurate statement like WUT? Dame was practically an ironman while carrying a herculean load and he was playing injured many of those years as we now know.

Trading Ant for anything other than a current All-Star is an absolutely horrid idea. It would be like trading Jermaine O'Neal only much, MUCH worse. Horrible idea. I'd almost rather trade Dame over Simons. Unreal.

Why are people wanting to trade our second best piece and the only one that makes sense to build around long term? Horrible trade. Trade Nurk if you want to trade a core piece, Simons should be untouchable for less than an All-Star two way player. Have you guys already forgotten his stats after the break were better than Dame's rookie season (Simons same age) with more 30 point games in about 1/3 as many overall games. Trading Simons would be wildly, wildly stupid unless we are getting LeBron or some other All-star two way player that gives us a legit immediate shot at a title.

Dame's rookie season was playing with LMA, Batum and Mathews. Simons was playing along side G-League players, if he couldn't get to 30 point with all the shots he can have, he shouldn't be a rotational player in the NBA.

The only answer that makes sense is that these people think Simons has maxed out his ceiling already at 22 years old and didn't like what they saw from Simons when he was a starter in the second half of the season.
