Oh I know.....my second son hunts boar with an AR15 and belongs to the NRA and is a MAGA fan as well....I love him but we have this conversation all the time. He reminds me of mags but is respectful of me even though we disagree......he went hunting recently and shot hundreds of rounds and came home with one old boar that wasn't edible...I teased him about that..my younger brother is the same. I grew up hunting in Iowa and as I've stated....a good hunter won't shoot more than twice at wild game because after it's bolted it's adrenaline spoils the taste of the meat...a good hunter will take them when they are calm and still....not running My father got his limit on elk and deer every season with a bolt action 30 06 that didn't hold multiple rounds...professional snipers use single shot rifles usually. I'm not someone unfamiliar with the culture but I don't think modern AR guns were designed with good hunting practices in mind..they are designed to maximize the ability to make multiple kills and yeah...that's what they do.

Exactly right about a true hunter not taking excessive shots unless a grizzly is charging at you and then an AR-15 would prove Darwin right. Might as well have a BB gun.

    No.

Gun manufacturers, sellers, and support organizations like the NRA have rebranded/remarketed/renamed assault rifles into sporting guns.

Look at the dates of the magazines and ads I posted.

Assault rifles got a shit reputation. So they changed the term. Same guns, different market branding. A branding that supports, "Hey, this is just a fun gun for fun times! For sporting times!" one that sadly through their ads is desperately trying to say these guns don't kill kids, they're for kids!

The new claim of these guns are for hunting boars & wild pigs are also bullshit since pig carcasses are routinely used to test guns and ammo. They're the closest you can get to the human body.

I too have a son that owns an AR15, pistols & other hunting rifles. He's in the Military and likes to hunt, never with his AR15. Uses that a ranges that allow them.
I own a handgun and deer rifle.

I would own a handgun strictly for varmints in the woods.

A former president went to meet people in Texas before the current one, after this tragedy. Biden is obviously a disgrace. Oh wait, it was a bit different type of meeting you say???

I have a rifle and a shotgun....rifle is just a 22 bolt action....I live where there are mountain lions, bear and predators like bobcats but they never have bothered us ...I would probably use it on a rabid dog more than likely....I have bear spray for the woods....you don't want to wound a bear. 3 bear cross by backyard late at night often and drink from the creek below my house...they only eat plum leaves from my flowering plum tree and go to the watering hole..then up into the BLM land behind me...in 22 years I've never been threatened enough here to need to shoot an animal. I have a family of deer that live on my property and I'd never shoot them....they're like pets to me and they know me...I don't threaten them. I don't need to hunt anymore...we have plenty of food...my thing is fishing.

I'm sorry, but that's just not the case.
https://www.britannica.com/technolo...m that, semiautomatic and fully automatic fire.

I've also seen the military definition, which I'm not finding at the moment, but it specifically requires select fire between semi auto, full auto, and 3 round burst.

    Here, from Wikipedia

Yeah, I don't know anybody who uses an AR-15 for Deer. It's not a heavy enough round.

Mostly rodents and pigs. When you have a bunch of something to kill and need accessories.

I don't care about magazines or marketing... Why would you think magazines and marketing would determine this? They are trying to trick people into buying their magazine...

Why wouldn't they? Magazines, ads, and such marketing play a big role in young people buying these guns. Ooh assault rifle...ooh that looks the gun I used in call of duty...ooh assault rifle....what makes that gun so dangerous is the perceptions put around it and the culture that creates. All of this marketing has created that.

There was ad above somewhere of a kid with one of these. Start them early was it's message. That is fucking reprehensible.

    This is what you said...

I showed you they were and still are called assault weapons and clearly not by people who want to ban them.

Guns and Ammo clearly doesn't want to ban assault rifles. Look at the title of the article above the Guns & Ammo, "The Bloody Trail of Gunless MURDERERS!" Then right under the Guns & Ammo is "The New Breed of Assault Rifle." This is not the voice of someone who wants to ban them.
