Needs to come out and make a statement that they covet the number 7 pick and absolutely not trade it unless they get something incredible in return. Some of these damn rumors are pathetic. Grow some GD Balls. Oh and if this has been covered i didn't see it so you folks that post on here 100x per day. Sorry if i offended you and you have to weed through one more thread to find that thread you have already posted in five times today. RIP CITY!!!!!
You're right, they should. Put out there how excited we are about the quality of players we will have available to choose from at that slot. Mention how many of them should be able to contribute from day 1. Or even talk about how this is clearly a 7-person draft, and we are incredibly fortunate to be in that position. They won't, and even if they did it would be incredibly transparent, but they should.
Thanks. Appreciate the reply. Just feels like we are really undervaluing this pick and we are gonna end up with shit.
Hello, Would not the picks value be contingent on three things? 1) Whether the team that owns said pick is heading in the direction which requires a new young rookie potential, above most all else. 2) The slotted pick ranking (We are 7th) 3) The depth of talent in the draft pool (One might say this is as important as 1&2 combined). Analyzing the talent pool of the draft, the direction we seem to be going in, and the number of players on rookie contracts we already have (Nas & Keon, not including Ant because he will get paid) with potential, I would say you might overvalue this pick if we are to stand pat, vs most other fans. Me? I’m on the fence. I would like to see us trade down to 9-10 and a second first. It seems 9-10 can land us the same caliber of player as 7. Of course it all depends on our scouts. Then we have the second 1st to use in a trade.
The Detroit stuff is annoying AF - the media who drops these tidbits conveniently leaves out that Grant is an UFA next summer. Milwaukee took the risk by trading a 1RP for PJ Tucker only to watch him bolt as an UFA that following summer.
But what if the guy they have targeted is going to be 5-6? Why not trade up, I mean we already have a number of youngsters being developed. If they have an opportunity to trade to 4/5/6 swing for the fence.
None of us, with the possible exception of CalvinNatt, know what’s going to happen. None of us know how this regime will approach the draft,. How much they’ll listen to Dame. Etc.
He says there's no way we're staying at 7 but he didn't say we were going to completely trade out of the first round either or maybe he said the lotto. Anyway he hinted that we're trading back and he's been pretty adamant that he thinks whatever move we do will include getting Grant.
because of rumors? Good grief man, every single offseason & trade deadline rumors have Portland giving away their assets to the big markets. Rumors are clickbait not reality. STOMP
Why make statements that could theoretically inflate the value of an asset of which they plan to divest themselves? Hmm.... let me think about that for a minute...
I fully expect Cronin to pull off the ultimate Pritchslap(s) 2.0 -- he learned from his mentor and he is ready now! Green font?
