I would have thought by the 21st century cities would have a tougher, better more effective way in addressing sexual assault crimes. Seattle police stopped investigating new adult sexual assaults this year, memo shows 1 day ago
Almost seems like since we're so afraid of socialism (universal Healthcare, universal education, improved social safety net, police and judicial system focused on helping rather than punishing) we're devolving... The idea would be to make us so desperate to get things back to our "normal" that we accept authoritarianism, with the police being the lowest level of the ruling class...
People think of hippies and grunge music when they talk about Seattle but that city near the border has had a huge Mafia presence since prohibition....some mafia guys from Seattle rented a cabin near me in the 70s to lay low from the heat in Seattle for a summer in the 70s and they were a rough crowd ....politics in Seattle have been rife with corruption for a long time...lot more rough trade in Seattle than is generally talked about since Tom Hanks made a movie there. Organized crime has probably infiltrated the cops there for generations....doesn't surprise me.
Classic protection racket behavior, I wonder if the police are demanding more money and didn't get it.
That or their ranks are filled with sexual abuse claims and they are circling the wagons around their buddies.
Police like any profession have bad apples and those on the take. But there are also those that do a decent job too. I have a brother that retired as a homicide detective and a two cousins that are cops now. They are great guys and take their jobs seriously and are also giving back to their communities in other ways. The detective has attended many funerals of victims and to this day stays in touch with some of the families. Im all for improving any profession or system/government, but we need to be reminded that there are multitudes of decent people that that strive to do a good job. And all three are die hard democrats too.
