Good point. Guess you'll be standing in the middle of a room in a gun fight. Just thought the 30'x 50' was a bit over the top. By the way yes I'm also ex military like Riverman and Lanny though not as far back and i was Rangers 2/75. No we didn't carry a side arm. The captain and XO did but that was pretty much for using on deserters or in some cases to keep from being taken. I guess you can figure i also will agree to disagree on a handgun over an AR. Been there done that.
Of course a knife can kill. So can a hammer. A cast iron skillet. But none of those can kill huge numbers in minutes. And can be more easily disarmed. Has anyone carried out mass murder with cast iron skillet?
I mean, you have a point here, but it's not as strong a point as you'd wish. The same group of people who want the 2nd amendment to be interpreted in a maximalist way is the same group of people who don't want to fund healthcare or mental health or any other solutions. Some of them are supreme court justices and some of them are congresspeeps, and some of them are other things. But if you remove enough of them from power, you can make progress. If you don't, you can't. barfo
Yes. But the question was something to the effect of "At what point do we start blaming the gun?" Well, if we could get rid of all guns (and trust police) we might be better off. But that's not within the realm of possibility in any reasonable time frame. There are more obstacles to that (and bigger) than just about every other solution. Nobody is claiming we should ban knives, or that there is a comparison to how deadly a knife is. The point is blaming the type of tool is pointless if removing that tool wouldn't solve the problem. Removing a specific semiautomatic rifle wouldn't make a difference. People would just use a different semiautomatic rifle that does the same thing. There are tons of other types which can do the exact same thing. And there is no way to get rid of all of those types in the near term. So "blaming the gun" is pointless. Just as pointless as blaming a knife. The problem is a psycho getting ahold that weapon. What's needed is a policy that both sides can support. It actually sounds like they are talking about the right kinds of things now...
What isn’t funny is that you Laugh Your Ass Off about dead children. We need better common sense gun laws. I happen to know this to be the case. I know better than most and it’s not a laughing matter in my opinion.
Jesus, do you read the shit vomit out? What a fucking joke... Why don't you round up all your military background and gun knowledge and tell us how different 30-06 and 7.62 are again. Oh that's right. You were full of shit there too.. Maybe you can go misquote some more documents to make yourself feel better about it...
Sorry man. I never gave your question about the caliber of bullets the dignity of an answer. Go ahead and look. It had nothing to do with the conversation. As it doesn’t now either. Again. In my humble opinion we need stronger and more complete gun laws to deter more needless killing of school children. I know you don’t want to stay on topic but I simply don’t like drifting onto issues that make little difference. I shoot you with a 30-06 you die. I shoot you with a 7.62 you die. Also the 7.62 is used in the M-60 machine gun. If I shoot you with that I cut you to pieces. How’s that for a comparison for you. Now let’s get back on topic here. I personally want a full change to the constitution. I want it law across the land. You say that won’t happen. I say It needs to and I won’t quit saying it. Simple.
