It will be tragic. In more ways than one. Not only will he get away with it, but the focus of the legislative branch will have shifted from serious issues affecting the country. And for what? The biggest issue in the country right now is not the insurrection on Jan 6th, or violence, or gun control, or racial equity, or abortion. The biggest issue in the country right now is the economy. And we are in big trouble.
Former Fox News political editor Chris Stirewalt, who was fired by the cable network last year, said he will testify Monday at the House select committee’s next hearing about the pro-Trump Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/10/fir...-testify-at-jan-6-riot-committee-hearing.html
I wonder if Fox will carry the hearing on Monday? "Fox News didn’t carry Thursday night’s hearing, and instead aired two hours commercial-free of right wing commentary from Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity."
And a lot of those issues are caused by the same evil fucks who tried to overthrow the government. There is no more defending the republican party. And anyone who does goes on ignore. Not effing around anymore.
The economy could be solved with proper economic incentives. Addressing our dependence on oil would be hugely beneficial. But I don't think there is anything more important to the country right now than Jan 6th resulting in severe punishment. It must be understood that an insurrection attempt from the president can never happen again.
I disagree. I don't believe the congressional committee has the power to administer severe punishment. I also don't believe there is any straightforward solution to our economic problems.
The economic problems will resolve themselves even without government intervention. Allowing Presidents to be insurectionist criminals will not. The House panel does not have the authority to pursue criminal charges, but it can provide the Justice Department with evidence of any wrongdoing it unearths in its investigation.
Congress has the power to charge treason but they must be convicted in order to be punished. In my opinion this should be where they are going with this. I'm reading up on the Treason Clause and this is pretty straightforward but if there is a conviction it pretty much destroys Trump and his entire family. "The Constitution also narrowed the scope of punishment for treason as compared to English common law. The final clause of this Section establishes that, while Congress has the general power to establish the penalties for committing treason, Congress may not “work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person” convicted of treason. “Corruption of blood” is a reference to English common law, which prohibited family members from—among other things—receiving or inheriting property from a person convicted of treason. Under the Constitution, that punishment may not extend beyond the life of the person convicted of treason." Ivanka is just showing her Trump dna....throwing daddy to the wolves to protect her own treasure chest. Trump would throw all his children under the bus to stay out of jail. She knows that well
Just watched it Unbelievable stuff. The evidence is also damning on Trump and all his lackeys. They need to rot in prison, fuck em
I don't think that really makes sense. There are 435 house members, and 9 of them are on the 1/6 committee. The other 426 could be working on other things. They won't be, but 1/6 is not a valid excuse. Congresspeople can not walk and not chew gum at the same time. barfo
Childhood monsters never really go away. You may grow up and not think about them consciously, but they are still there... and at any moment, when you are tired or weak, BAM! Hillary comes out of the woods after you! barfo
