Yeah I'm with science and actual data, while you're with whatever gets you to your desired conclusion. So sorry that I don't bah like a sheep at the word of the draft hype guy from the same prestigious network that prominently features Screamin' A(hole) as it's lead hoops expert, especially since my eyes tell me that in no way in hell is the guy I'm watching 6'10. Bumping through his twitter feed on 2022 prospects, guy after guy Givony rounds up from their combine measurement with shoes on Not restrained by the reality of an actual official measurement, how surprising is it that such a bastion of facts tells us Sochan is 1" taller then any other source? Do you think that Jonathan personally stretched a tape on him? So again, I like Sochan as a prospect at 6'6.75" but I like him a lot more at 6'8... barefoot! It makes a difference as he could reasonably swing onto Bigs at a larger size. Could Jeremy have grown since his last official measurement? Yes, he could have. Does it matter if he did? Yes of course it does. Do we know that he did? No we don't. Will GMs know his measurements prior to draft day? Yes they will. At 6'8, no way does that guy slip out of the top 10 IMO. Can we trust the word of a guy like Givony? Opinions vary, which is fine. You do you. STOMP
Edit: For some Spurs fans (and he might end up with the Spurs), Sochan's spin move (and form on his jump shot) reminded them of this player. Someone I never would have thought of. Kawhi Leonard. Sochan isn't a good 3-point shooter right now, but he is a good scorer on 2-point shots at 58.5%. Leonard is a career 38% shooter on 3-pointers so career-wise it's hard to make the comparison on offense for me other than this one aspect.
He should be better on defense. He's got a ways to go to catch up on offense, but he's got nearly 3 years until he's as old as Keegan is now.
Back when I was in single digits and too small to hoist a real Bball all the way up to the basket, I could shoot the hell out of a volley ball. By middle school, even though I didn't practice & had terrible form using both hands to generate power, I could shoot the hell out of regulation ball out to the top of the key. After I grew in my teens, I refined the form on my J and it was on. I could shoot my J off the dribble going right and especially left and was usually the leading scorer in the thousands of pickup and league games I played in. However, I'd usually enter those games telling myself I was going to focus on D and playmaking for others. While I badly wanted to be an all around player and not just a scorer, it never happened. 5 Minutes in the endorphins would hit & I was taking my man off the dribble with a 6th sense for the hoop. I see my experience as pretty common. While we see players develop/refine their games over their careers, they usually build on what they excel at rather then open up whole new aspects. Natural shooters/scorers don't usually become playmakers and vice versa. A few years in I expect Sochan will be thought of primarily as a wing defender & secondary playmaker. While I doubt he'll ever be the focus of a team's offense, he has decent mechanics and should be able to hone a reasonable 3 point stroke over time. If so & his other skills continue to blossom, he could be a valuable part a winning club. PG sized guys who can shoot are a dime a dozen, wings who can create for them are rare. It might take a few years, but JS has real upside. STOMP
How much better is Sochan than Watford, really? Sochan looks like he’s more athletic and might be the better shooter, but is he substantially better than Sochan on defense? If it’s the case that they’re pretty similar, I’d probably rather take Daniels.

Man, Sochan has extremely quick lateral movement and can guard 1 through 5. Going to be a solid point of attack on ball defender too. His motor/smarts/ball handling & size is impressive.
Watford can't and doesn't shoot 3-point shots. 38% of Sochan's shots are 3-pointers. He doesn't make them at a high rate (30 percent) but he's taking them, and makes them much better than Watford (24%). I think Sochan's much better foot speed will give him a clear advantage on defense.
I agree with this for the most part. Sochan has the potential to be a much better defender, especially on the perimeter. But I would not say Watford can't improve his 3 shooting. His 3pt stroke did not look that bad. He could easily improve in year two with a lot of repetition over the summer.
Sochan is a reach at #7 ... but not by much. Legit motor. Bball IQ. And he's already a little bit weird ... a fit for Portland.
