I think hard labor with no media access for life is a fitting punishment...let them bust rocks on the border and hire some Mexican security guards to herd them while they tear down that fucking wall. No golf...no conjugal visits...no internet...no cell phones...just hammers and wheelbarrows and orange jumpsuits...hard work is the best way to pay back society for crimes commited...but no perks...just work, endless, day after day doing what illegals flocked here to do...and let them take orders from guards who only speak in Spanish. Payback should be a motherfucker..death is too merciful

...oh, I mixed up names here -- thought that was one of the senators involved. Took all of 3 minutes to figure out that you're touting another debunked talking point bringing up Ray Epps and insinuating this entire thing was orchestrated by the FBI. Lol gtfoh

I thought the Ray Epps red herring was utterly debunked months ago. Pushing a Ted Cruz narrative not only isn't a good look, it's pushing something that is virtually certain to be a lie.

He may or may not have any link to the FBI, there’s no proof. But why is the most documented individual and the one seen on video for two days demanding people go into the capitol not charged with anything? Seems weird. It’s also weird that the FBI squirms when asked about it under oath. They refuse to simply say ‘no’ when asked if he has any connection to the bureau. I just don’t think it’s that far fetched after the entire Whitmer kidnapping scheme that was almost entirely orchestrated by the FBI. It wouldn’t give a pass to anyone who committed crimes that day but it’d certainly be interesting to know more about it, or at least get a definitive answer from the FBI.

Again. It’s a good thing Liberals aren’t the gun types generally (everyone relax yes some own guns) or the sniper assassination group or Trump would have been picked off a long time ago. The crazies on the right never would put up with this piece of shit for this long. Need a good old redneck with the big truck and American flag out the back to change sides.

Utterly debunked is a stretch. The FBI won’t even flatly deny it. I may have missed out on a statement by them or testimony under oath where they did deny it, but so far I haven’t seen it. You might be able to pull up something I haven’t seen?

And to be fair, this entire thread so far is speculative and fueled by theories that have yet to be proven. I think the point of these hearings is to bring some of these theories to light and put others to bed. Maybe we’ll all know a little more by the time it’s over. Probably not, but maybe.

You just admitted your side is crazy and relented that the people who own most of the guns are not out in the streets using them because they are not the crazy ones.

    Nice.

Well........below is the most up to date on the Ray Epps thing I can find. No idea what The Daily Dot is, or to which side it leans. But it's pretty much par with everything else I have read about Epps to this point. I think the bigger news outlets have moved one from that individual.

With the January 6 committee hearings under way in Washington, claims pinning the Capitol attack on Epps were back in Americans' social media feeds. Misinformation experts say it is part of an ongoing effort to shift blame for the actions of those involved in the insurrection.

"Motivated reasoning is key to understanding this: The conspiracy theory acts as evidence that the people on one's political side or in their party aren't so bad, they were merely egged on by a nefarious deep state plot," said Adam Enders, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Louisville.

Ethan Porter, an assistant professor of media and public affairs at George Washington University, agreed, saying the theory is "not a denial that something happened -- it's a denial of responsibility, of culpability."

"If I were a Trump supporter, I would have to reconcile my support for Trump with what happened that day," Porter told AFP.

    Informant claims are unproven
More than a year after they first emerged online, claims that Epps is an FBI informant remain unproven. Multiple news organizations have reported on the matter.

Epps' lawyer, John Blischak, told AFP that, in addition to meeting with the January 6 committee, the pair "personally met with the FBI and answered all their questions."

"There has been no evidence established that Mr. Epps was a former FBI agent nor did he receive any compensation from the FBI," Blischak said in an email.

The US attorney's office in the District of Columbia has charged more than 800 people in connection to the Capitol riot. Epps is not one of them, nor is he wanted by the FBI.

Michael Jensen, a senior researcher at the University of Maryland's National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), told AFP in an email that there is "absolutely no evidence" that Epps was an FBI informant on January 6.

"These claims, which have been circulating online for months and have been pushed by some Republicans in Congress and right-wing TV personalities, have been decisively debunked," he said.

Jensen added that Epps "has consistently referred to himself as a Trump supporter that attended the January 6th rally because he firmly believed the election had been stolen from the former president."

Jensen also pointed out that audio submitted in court in June revealed that in interviews with the FBI after the attack, Epps told investigators that he was trying to calm the rioters.

The FBI caught wind of those whack jobs kicking around the idea of kidnapping Whitmer, so they "encouraged" them to actually try to go through with it. It actually isn't a "new" thing for the FBI. They are just about as corrupt as both of our political parties.........
