Could be argued that they screwed up both of the last two drafts pretty badly. Took Wiseman over Ball. Took Kuminga over Wagner. I like JK, but Wagner is a better player. Even Moody at 14 seemed like an overdraft.
Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody, Poole, Looney..... Get back to us when Portland has two players in the Draymond, Wiggins, Klay talent tier, let alone one.
I'm not sure if Ball makes sense for them though. That draft overall looks pretty weak when you go back and look at the lottery.
LaMelo was an all star in year 2. I think he woulda fit extremely well next to Curry, especially with how amazing Steph is off the ball. I really think Wiseman was more of a fit pick than BPA.
Would he have been an All-Star if he had gone to GS though? I think LaMelo thrived because he went to a team that lacked an identity and he was given full control. I don't see that happening in GS.
Is the price going up on Grant, or is this a phony rumor to try to drive up the price? Rumor: Heat becoming frontrunner in potential Jerami Grant trade https://clutchpoints.com/heat-rumors-miami-becoming-frontrunner-in-potential-jerami-grant-trade/
" Although Miami may be one of the best teams for him, they will have to pay a very high price if they are able to acquire him."
no. i'm fairly certain you don't know who franz wagner is. And i'm pretty sure you're not interested in an actual discussion so why bother. I didn't see Kuminga anywhere on the rookie teams: but guess who was on first team? Wagner averaged 15/5/3 on 56% TS and was able to play 31 mpg. Kuminga averaged 9/3/1 on 60% TS and played only 17 mpg. Wagner is taller and bigger and showed real playmaking chops. Kuminga (who should have honestly played more) could not be trusted by Kerr because of his fairly limited skillset at this point. He was a good pick, but Wagner was better.
But if the Heat really want him, wouldn't that up your opinion of him. They don't make many mistakes personnel wise.
Remember when you were surprised when someone else on here called you condescending? Btw trying to call me out for not knowing who a European is, like what are you thinking, I’ve seen most those dudes in person. Wrong lane. Kuminga is younger, more athletic, better defensively, and maybe most importantly will be developed by Golden States staff instead of Orlando’s. If you wanna look at stats though, Kuminga averaged more points/100 (on fewer attempts) and got to the line at nearly double the rate. His ws/48 were better as well. Mix in the before mentioned defense, as well as his rebounding and you’ve got the better player.
Grant would be a great fit for the Blazers. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Is he a star or a #2 option? No. But I think he could be one of the league's premiere role players.
Kuminga showed real promise off the bench and throughout the season, having an actual impact for a team winning many games that went on to win the title. Wagner was handed a role on one of the worst teams in the league. I'm much more impressed by Kuminga season. Very rare to see a rookie do that, and at age 19 with his size. Either player is very young, with potential and could develop much more over the decade ahead. So I wouldn't be surprised if either ends up vastly different than today. But its not some for sure case that Wagner is better now or was better this last season.
and you arent? you literally tell everyone off here when you disagree. It's funny to see you get triggered when you get called on it. kudos to you. I'm gonna try to stop with the back and forth nonsense because it really is unnecessary. And "wrong lane..." lol, just can't stop with the superiority complex can you? If Wagner was on GS, would he not have have played in the finals? This is a frustrating debate because I actually like Kuminga and would give serious thought to trading our #7 for him. But Wagner showed way more readiness and ability than JK. The voting for rookie teams shows me I'm not off base.
I'm going to ride with this rumor with a rumor I'll make up now....Jimmy Butler wants to play with Dame and demanded a trade so this will be a 3 team deal with Portland, Miami and Detroit! You read it here first!!!
