I can't prove or disprove this. I'm not even sure how Dame is comparable to either one of them. I will be shocked if 32 year old Dame goes for 18pts/4asts this season like Pierce did at age 32. I'm guessing it'll be much closer to LBJ's 26/9... but again, the comparison is a weird one either way.

Regardless. Pierce won a title 3 years after his supposed peak.

Buddy, I’m not going to explain the difference between 29 year old LeBron James and 32 year old Damian Lillard.

No need.... You also don't need to explain the difference between Dame and a lottery pick because that gap is even more significant.

The theory that after the age of 27 teams should think about moving on from their HOF player is a bit silly, don't you think?

Since we are dealing in hypotheticals, you wouldn’t trade Damian Lillard for rookie LeBron?

Personally I don’t think it applies to all teams. I think it applies to our shitty team.

    Age of 27? Yes.

Age of 32 and minimal assets and not nearly enough talent to get to contender status for support of said player? Not so much.

Yes I would. Likewise, would you trade Dame for Anthony Bennett? No? Glad we cleared that up!

Propose the minimum amount you would take back for Dame, I'm curious.

I would 100% trade Dame, but not in a deal where the main return is future draft picks.

Jaylen Brown and picks. Scottie Barnes and Fred Van Vleet (move him for picks from someone else).

That's not horrible. I probably won't do it, but I think you hit a trade that neither side does, which means it's probably fair!

The fact that you're getting an all-star in return, plus picks is very reasonable.

What the Pelicans got for Anthony Davis or what the Thunder got for Paul George are the type of deals I'd hope for.

Dame might not have quite that value. But he should have more than what the Pelicans got for Jrue.

The Blazers shouldn't be in a rush to trade Dame. They can sit back and wait for great offers to come in. Wait until some team gets desperate. Maybe Dame getting healthy and showing that on the court first will help.

But when the Blazers have no realistic way to contend soon they don't need to hold an aging Dame as 100% untouchable as some fans do. At least if their primary goal is to win titles.

And I don’t want to see them make a bunch of desperate trades to try to win with Dame.

This is what most concerns me. It would be even worse than Roco/Nance trades. At least with those moves we had the talent to do something such as flip CJ for a forward upgrade and possibly contend. This current roster isn't close.

It’s like we’re back to 2016 only Dame is older and we have a shorter window.

NOP got good value for Davis. If we could get 3 young players, two of them high end starters, plus 3 draft picks for Dame, I would do that deal.

I'm trying to think of what win now team would have the assets to make such a move and are ready to win now. Golden St (would they want Dame/Steph?) could deal Poole, Wiseman, etc. Boston? Miami?

I agree with this. No desperate trades to try and win now or rebuild. Got to make sound moves, in either direction.

If LeBron was a month away from 32 like Dame is, and had never won a Conference Finals playoff game, it would at least be something to consider. Since that isn't even close to what happened in LeBron's career, it's somewhat of a mute point.

I'm fine with people considering trading Dame. I would trade Dame for the right package. I wouldn't trade Dame for a blind, draft pick rebuild, in hopes those picks turn into 1-2 stars.

I don't subscribe to the team success as an evaluation of how good/bad Dame is like you seem to be. Name the last franchise to have a player as good as Dame for 8+ years who never paired him with a better #2 than CJ. The Blazers lack of post-season success has little to do with Dame and a lot more to do with the roster construction since 2016.
