i think they'll expect some value back. while matisse's limitations were on full display in the playoffs, he's not a negative asset.

That’s what I’m saying. I thought Thybulle + #23 was worth Hart + #36 + #57. But the tweet talks about sending out both Thybulle + #23 to sign Tucker.

We might be able to give them the Bucks pick for Thybulle and 23.

What is it that they want though? Do they only want to get off Thybulle to sign Tucker?

could be wrong but spotrac says they're about 4.3 mil above the luxury tax threshold for the 22-23 season. Thybulle makes almost exactly that amount.

would shedding his contract get them below the tax to enable them to use the full non-taxpayer MLE in free agency on Tucker?

While Korkmaz also gets them there, he's most likely not as valuable in a trade as Thybulle.

They also probably want to keep the Green contract to get contracts that add up somewhat to Eric Gordon's number.

    Something like this?

I could part ways with the MIL 1st and change the protections for Thybulle.

Take Thybulle and #23, send #23 for Grant, I can handle that. Then take Sharpe at #7.

    Dame
    Ant/Sharpe
    Nas/Thybulle/Winslow
    Grant/Watford/GB3
    Nurk/?

It’s deeper I guess. I’m assuming Hart is part of Thybulle/23

    sure if we get 23.

Philly would still need to shed salary to get the full MLE though. Korkmaz would have to be involved.

I’m not sure if they’re trying to get rid of both Thybulle AND Green.

I would do this though. Thybulle covers 3’s really well and at worst is your day 1 starter at the 3. I still don’t like the idea of Grant, but you need a Thybulle or Sochan who plays defense and doesn’t shoot a lot for Grant to play well imo, if we go that route.

from last summer (they're repped by the same agency).

You just have to hope Toronto isn't in the finals so he can play road games there. :)

I just don't think Thybulle is a playoff player.

Doesn't get guarded. Can't dribble. Doesn't consistently make good decisions. And even as a defender he's a gambler who's also only good in certain contexts vs certain matchups.

He's a regular season player unless he makes progress on his shot

Not sure how that would work...

Didn't Tucker just opt out of his contract to be a FA?

My understanding is that Philly would NOT be allowed to use the non-tax TPE.

I understood that it was always based on where the team was when the transaction finished. Signing Tucker to a full-MLE would put 76ers in the tax at the end of the transaction (thus would not be allowed).

Also using the full-MLE would hard-cap them as a team (limiting other options).

Regarding your Gordon trade, I have no interest in Niang. Send him to Houston instead

Thybulle very good defender but big offensive liability

Actually all this Thybulle stuff is probably not possible for Portland. We are 2.3mil below the luxury tax threshold for this season so taking on his contract without sending anything back would mean no payment for Jody from the tax paying teams. Its the kinda penny pinching move I'm sure she and Bert would insist on.

If we trade the pick for some middling veteran I'm going to be furious.

Honestly, I might check out until Jody and Bert are gone. Aaron Fentress was on 620 yesterday and he was saying they have like 3 more years to sell. Just long enough to completely ruin the rest of Dame's career.

Both Spotrac and Fanspo have us 14.5M under the luxury tax right now and that's with dead money and everything. Maybe you have another source or could explain the math of how you got to 2.3M? If we are far enough away I would for sure be willing to take on Thybulle along with the 23rd pick for nothing or anything between a future second and the Bucks 2025 FRP.

At that point I might trade back to San Antonio 7 for 9 and 25. I would draft Duren at 9. I would send 23 and 36 to Detroit for Grant (that trade would be completed after the start of the new league year). I would take Dalen Terry at 25. Hart, Thybulle and Nas would battle it out for the starting 3 spot.

    Dame, Ant, Terry
    Ant, Hart, Keon
    Thybulle, Nas, Justise
    Grant, Justise, Trendon, Greg
    Nurk, Duren

That's a helluva lot of depth and a great balance of developing youth and win now vets.
