Yeah, Murray is probably the better fit and will probably make a more immediate impact but this could go down as Antawn Jamison v. Vince Carter. Sharpe no doubt projects to be a better player in this league with an infinitely higher ceiling. Sharpe's trainer says he's far more developed than Shai who he also trained. I think it's overblown that he can't play soon.
Take Murray with #5, and then we're suddenly loaded with wings, and ton of versatility with different skillsets. A wing rotation of Hart/Nas/Grant/Murray/Thybulle is reeaaally intriguing.
i don't see the parallels. Both Jamison and Carter played 100+ games in college on the same team. Especially the Sharpe-Carter comp. The absolute floor for Carter coming out of college was a starting caliber wing, with the upside of MJ. Sharpe's a lot more of an unknown.
We're not talking about experience, we're talking about ceiling and position. Jay Bilas just said Sharpe would be competing for the #1 pick in next year's draft if he would have stayed. It's true that there is less info on Sharpe, but every scout gives him their stamp of approval.
i'm referring more to the risk involved in taking Sharpe. The risk for Toronto was minimal in comparison when they moved Jamison to GS for Carter. If we were to swap 7 for 6 to take Murray, the risk for Indiana would be pretty big.
I wouldn’t necessarily trust that trainer because I suspect that’s the guy that was in his ear while he was at Kentucky. The word was that Sharpe wanted to play and he was advised by his trainer to not play.
I think Murray is arguably a bigger risk. Can't create. High usage in college. Significantly older than his counterparts. He has all the hallmarks of a good college player who doesn't translate at the NBA level. On the flip side, yes there is less tape, but the consensus is that Sharpe has the highest ceiling in the draft along with Chet. If I'm trying to hit a home run and get a franchise player, Sharpe is the better prospect.
This is exactly how I wanted this to happen find a guy or two in draft that absolutely blows your socks off. If hes there you keep him if not you trade the pick. I also feel more confident with our new hires helping make that call we have the right guys in place for the drat analysis
I agree. No different than a coach telling teams his player was the best. Could be a favor. Or it could be true. But I'd rather the trainer say that than not say it at all. Shai turned out really good.
i generally agree with your mindset of go big or go home, but i really like Murray. Think he has all star potential with a high floor.
I like him too and wouldn't be mad if he's there. My preference is Sharpe but I'd be happy if Murray is the one left on the board.
it seems like our fans like keegan murray & shaedon sharpe, imagine both of them gone at 5 & 6, which is more than likely unless pistons & pacers really like guys like dyson daniels & bennedict mathurin, but thats about it i would think if we keep the pick, please god, let it be the right one
I agree. I would take Sharpe over Murray. Portland also has everything a player (especially a guard) needs to realize their potential.
Yes, it is possible. I think Sacramento is looking to trade down. 7th would probably be acceptable to Sacramento if their choice is still available at 7.
for the pistons, both murray & sharpe make a lot of sense hayes aint it at the guard, so sharpe might be the answer long term along with cade, on the other hand, they can add murray and have their wings set for the future with bey & murray im not sure about the pacers, but apparently theyre tearing it down completely, so they can pair haliburton with sharpe or draft literally anybody
