I think the idea that Sharpe can’t contribute till year 2 or 3 or 4 is false. I think he can easily come in as a spark plug off the bench, and then under the right coach, he can play defense. There will be games where we see the star he meant to be, then there will be games where we wonder why we picked him. But overall he can contribute off the bench in his rookie season. It’s the superstar/star that will take time for him to develop into

So, we're now looking at the one-and-done era as exposing blue chip weaknesses, meaning anyone who sits out is a better prospect? The less we know of them, the better they must be?

The same Joe who was the laughing stock of the league leading up to the trading deadline, and much of the ensuing season? The same Chauncey who has one year of assistant and one year of head coaching experience, and no front office experience? The same Dame who is always best friends with the fringe talent on the team and can't see them leaving?

I'd like to know more, if it's all the same to you.

My concern with that is, there are numerous examples of practice all-stars who never translated it to real game play. Hell, look at someone like Jerami Grant who shone in the bubble and hasn't lived up to his new contract since. Glorified scrimmages.

hence the risk... and the boom/bust potential. how much risk are you willing to endure for a chance at an elite scorer who could potentially put up 25 ppg in year 3? Given how far we are from contending, is there anyone else on the board in our range who can reach this level?

Please make it happen so we can watch the fireworks from that happening. If that happens, and someone defends Cronin. They need a time out from the forums.

Not sure who "we" is, but if you can't understand how Sharpe's situation could potentially hide his talent, I'm not sure what else to say to you. I'm not advocating for specifically drafting him because he didn't play last year, simply that his situation could be the largest contributor for why he's available at 7...

I am preemptively getting ready to hate Cronin even more than I already do.

The odds are cronin gives them 7 for grant. cronin has shown he makes bad choices and Dame wants him, for some reason. The easiest path to that is the 7th, which is an assinine move.

What if Grant wants Portland too? That would drive his value down for other teams.

I've been following Grant on IG since the summer. He's currently modeling in Paris right now and had a feature in Vogue. Interesting cat...

Why would anyone trade the seventh pick for an OK player on an expiring contract?

NO!!!!!! Not without trading down and getting another pick, someone will want to move up.
