They aren't close to the offensive weapons that LA was but they are more effective defenders and from what I've seen better competitors than LA was. So yeah, as far as being scoring weapons, these two aren't close individually but both are guys that can get you 20 every night if you get them the touches and both guys are really good defenders in different ways.

I am not seeing the current guard situation as the same as the old though. We never had a defender like Hart. No dogs on the court. Now we have a few to throw out there.
I suppose I am just not seeing the same NO replication you are seeing. I am not sure many people are seeing this as a recycling of old.
I don't see how drafting a player brings any more potential of getting a second star over Ant, Nas and OG’s potential to be a star. And OG comes with nba experience. Instant starter. We cant say that with anyone at the 7 we draft.
So im not sure the premise of the question is even valid regarding Dame’s Prime.
Also. These are first year moves. You say good enough to make the playoffs and maybe second round but does that mean the roster stays that way for five years? Tweaks at the deadline and next year. To think we cant continue to improve and tweak to be a contender is not realistic. It seems you are wanting an instant contender next year and that's the dreamland scenario that is not realistic to me.

People underestimate the jump we could see with both Simons and Nas. Our best chance at being a championship team is from some guy on this roster making big jump so surrounding him them with defenders and 3 point shooters is crucial. Defense wins championships

 

I would rather do #7 for Dort and #12 and take Duren, than trade for OG.

 

Let’s say we draft Sharpe, and the scouts are right and he’s Anthony Edwards with a jump shot. He could be a bonafide superstar in 3-4 years. Dame is only 35-36 at this point. How else are you going to acquire someone that talented?

We kept the pick 10 years ago and took Dame. He was instantly the second best player on our team.

I was crazy about Dame at the time and wanted us to trade up with our second pick to get Drummond. That was my thing that year. When I look at the opportunity to acquire the player that that other thread is about, it makes me more excited than an unknown wing that may or may not pan out. None of the guys we're looking at drafting at 7 have popped like Dame did in his interviews and if you remember he had a series of youtube videos that showed what set him apart from any other player in that draft. None of these guys are showing me what Dame did. I think Shaedon has the potential to be a league MVP and he also has bust potential... all of the guys are potential busts unless Keegan were to fall to us and I think he doesn't have the upside that OG still has.
