Main thing I got is that they were surprised that Sharpe excelled in defense in 3 on 3 workouts, despite his lack of experience.

There's a nice clip of him getting a solid block in the workouts.

Cronin video was choppy for me but I think in the end he said they have one two way open and they might use it tonight or maybe later.

On Instagram they showed like 3 blocks by Sharpe he looked legitimately good at Defense. That's an exciting thought. He also was super composed and radiated confidence in everything he did.

Can't wait for Summer League, just because of Shaeden.

Worse. They gave up the lottery pick for cap space to sign Jalen Brunson.

And they still don't have nearly enough space. So theyll likely have to use some of those picks to get off of contracts. Just an awful deal, IMO.

When I heard that I thought "They really think Brunson is going to turn them around?" They gave up Kemba Walker and a lottery pick for a good player who isn't nearly enough to move the needle for them. It was such a Knicks move.

I should edit that. They gave up Kemba Walker and a lottery pick for a CHANCE to sign a good player who isn't nearly enough to move the needle for them.

My same source that was dead on with the Jerami Grant info over 2 months ago down to almost the exact package we'd trade for him and how Grant could get Detroit to trade him here, said this about tonight:

Dame is 100% on board with Sharpe. He along with everyone else in the front office thinks he could potentially be the best player in the draft.

Dame did want them to see what they could get by trading the pick, but he told them numerous times not to make a trade out of desperation or to overpay for anyone. He said he was willing to be patient with the process, even if it involves having to wait for younger players to develop.

Much like last summer with Siakam, talks with Toronto were pretty much the Blazers inquiring about OG but the Raptors never offering a serious trade that wouldn't have been way too high of a price tag. The Blazers tried multiple times to see if they would reconsider their offer, but it was always way too much. Dame said not to do it if that's what they're asking for.

A deal involving 12 and other assets (Dort or picks or whatever) was talked about with OKC. The value of Sharpe's potential was not worth moving off of 7 unless he wasn't there anymore.

Any potential for Thybulle at this point?

Sharpe has the most upside of anyone with the possible exception of Ivey and Holmgren. This was a fantastic get for us. It took me awhile to zero in on who I wanted in this draft where we were drafting, but in the end I wanted Sharpe and was thrilled we got him. I had also wanted Sochan and Duren, but at 7 I preferred Sharpe due to his upside. He has all the tools to be a complete player at the wing and I haven't been this excited for a Rookie we've drafted since Dame.

From what I'm being told, that was contingent on the 76ers needing a 3rd team to take him in an Eric Gordon trade but they decided on DeAnthony Melton instead.

Could be revisited but I don't think Portland has minutes for Thybulle.

Just replying to say I see what you guys are seeing. I did let my immediate emotions elevate my language a touch. I do have my concerns, but I do see the other side of it.

Portland Trail Blazers: Shaedon Sharpe, G, Kentucky
Sharpe is the biggest question mark of the draft and will need additional time to adjust to the NBA's pace and spacing after not logging a single minute at Kentucky. If the Trail Blazers are patient, Sharpe might have ended up in the perfect situation playing alongside Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons in the backcourt. Grade: B

    I'm not liking this pick.
