Geez, sensitive, much? Do you need a “safe space” where people can’t say a single negative word about your draft picks? Maybe you should see a counselor who can help you work through your hurt feelings. Shaedon Sharpe’s time at Kentucky is one of the more unusual routes anyone has ever taken to the NBA. He and his coach have given different explanations of why he was there and what his goals were. The whole thing is highly unusual, especially since Sharpe left high school early and joined the team in January, then played well enough in practice to make Calipari think he would eventually be a #1 pick, but still couldn’t earn any playing time. It’s all just a little strange, and certainly worth talking about. I’ve done lots of research on Sharpe’s time at Kentucky and most of the stories don’t explain much, and don’t even try to. They’ve just taken a quote from Sharpe or Calipari at face value with little or no real reporting. Time will tell if Sharpe has a real NBA career, but I certainly hope he does, and I’ll be rooting for him. He’s clearly got a lot of skills, and I hope he becomes a star. In the meantime, I hope you get the help you need to take questions about players with a little more maturity.
LMFAO. You’re ridiculous and not worth anyone’s time. Good luck with your proctology appointment to get that head removed.
@Idog1976 and @Bingo Bango some of your posts are pushing the no personal insult rule. Attack the post, not the poster. This is just a friendly reminder.
Calipari said he was in frequent contact with Shadeons parents and while ofcourse he lobbied for him to come back when it became evident he could go early in the lottery was more than understanding that he should go. He's not going to risk his reputation as a coach by not doing right by top tier recruits even stating that the fan base needs to chill and understand the bigger picture. John said many players are not ready and need a year of college ball but Sharpe did not fit that category.
I don't see how Sharpe harmed Kentucky fans or the program in any way. College coaches exploit athletes like they eat breakfast. Kentucky gave Sharpe a chance to train with them in the hope he would play next season and maybe lead them to the finals. He decided to forego next season and go pro. Freshman athletes who are first round locks do this EVERY YEAR. This is not different. Sharpe's decision had the exact same impact on the program as every Freshman lottery pick who's done the same exact thing. In the interest of full disclosure: When the Blazers were set to pick I was screaming at my TV for them to pick Sharpe, and I was relieved they didn't go with Daniels. I don't get my wish often and I just hope he's everything he seems to be. As an aside, I think the Blazers will be better next year than most of y'all seem to. I'm much more excited for next season than I was last summer.
I’m pretty sure if the #1 overall recruit went to Washington State and then sat out (but was playing in practices) then those some media people would go to Washington State practices as well to see what the deal is/was.
I think that's the gist of it, right there. How many people in this thread would defend Sharpe's college decisions if he were drafted by another team? Be honest.
I wouldn’t defend it because I wouldn’t care. At all. In fact I would spend zero time thinking or talking about it at all.
As far as I'm concerned it's business as usual. 13 of 30 first round picks were freshmen. The top 3 picks were freshmen. Did they all screw over those colleges and fans? That's just how the game is played in the 21st Century.
