I don't think our level of success for the last six or more seasons justifies that last little statement you tried to slip in there. I think both Trae and Dejounte will make each other more efficient on the offensive end and Trae could really use some elite help next to him on the other side of the ball. I think it would have been cool to see what a player like Dejounte would have done for Dame, should we have made a move like this half a decade ago.

I think i saw somewhere that Trae has actually been asking to be off the ball more.

This is a slick move by Sam Presti, especially if he thinks Dort is about to really have a breakout year. Now they get to match whatever offer Dort gets out on the open market and lock him up for at least a few years.

Trae and Murray are both going to want 20 shots a game. If Collins thought he didn't get the ball before...

I think Trae will want more than 20 and I also think that the Hawks are wagering that they can get Murray to take less shots per game than he has been in San Antonio as opposed to getting him to take two more per game than he did last season which was four more than the season before that.

I was trying to be nice. Trae would like 35 if he could get it, but has averaged just over 18 for his career.

I wonder is Jokic has any thought of turning down that super-max extension Denver will offer? Probably not as that would be declining 260M

does anybody else wonder if the reason that the Grant-->PDX deal hasn't been finalized yet is because Portland is still talking to Atlanta about Collins?

No. Not a chance that Atlanta makes a trade to dump Collins unless they get something better back. We don't have anything better to give them.

Not sure it's for Collins, but still trying to do some things with that Grant deal.

I know it will not happen, but I would love to send Grant to Atlanta & take Collins instead.

Outside of doing an extension then trade - I'm not sure how you can do more with the Grant deal. He eats up the full TPE. I can't see how it would be to anyone's advantage to delay this.

Actually, in digging into the CBA a bit - it appears that Grant's contract cannot be extended until Nov 22 anyhow...
    http://cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q58

This link states that Grant has to be past his 2-year anniversary from signing his current contract. He was sign/traded from Denver to Detroit on November 22, 2020.

Not sure what the hold up is.

I wonder if the League is adjusting the date due to the Covid delay in the 2020-2021 season....

Why couldn’t we get a star for a couple picks and an expiring contract like that.

Those are the moves that we’ve needed to make to put a team around Lillard for years…

Murray is probably THE best defensive guard in the league.

The only knock on him is outside shooting. Unlike CJ, when he’s on the court he can do multiple things to help his team win. He nearly averaged a triple double and led a decently competitive Spurs team that had a cast of scrubs if you really look up and down the roster.

They also probably want another really strong guard to make up for Young’s defensive deficiency.
