I will say that's the same kinda shit that was reported about Jaxson Hayes and if you've watched the bodycam footage besides the part that mysteriously just stops... there's no fucking way it was felony assault against a police officer. I know that Jon Jones and Chale Sonnen are both fighters and both are convicted felons Jones for a felony DUI and Sonnen for money laundering.

There is no footage of Sonnen's latest felony charge for domestic battery but it wasn't even a domestic battery situation. He got in a fight with someone at a hotel, Sonnen's wife was there, so it went into the books as domestic. Really quickly it was dropped down to some misdomeanors. I don't know if that was because he had good lawyers or if the whole ordeal was overblown in the initial charges because there's no video evidence and they never released any pictures of damage he did to people during the alleged fight.

Jon Jones may have done another dirtbag thing and roughed up the mother of his children and partner of a decade, there's no way he hit her but he might have grabbed her by the hair while she was walking away from him and flung her into a wall... some really messed up shit but he was never charged with that because she didn't press charges but they did break up a few months later.

However, after that incident, Jones left the hotel they were at in Vegas and just started walking down the street. The police were called by one of Jones's daughters because of the fight her parents had, so they were looking for him despite his partner either downplaying it or just telling them the truth that it wasn't as bad as it looked because she had some blood on her that she said came from a bloody nose unrelated to the fight.

Anyway, that's way too long of a set up but the police were looking for Jones and they found him, he was extremely drunk. At first he was joking around with them and they weren't having it, one of his jokes was that he could probably beat all of them up (there were like eight police officers) they didn't like that and he laughed and said it was a joke but that it was also probably true. Eventually they told him he was under arrest and that's when he lost it. He insulted them, he did not resist but he was crying a lot and talking a lot of shit about them and about himself. Then the police carefully put him face down on the hood of their vehicle, with his feet on the ground, bent over at the waist. He was still pretty distraut. He yelled something like, "I'm so fucking stupid!" then he raised up just a little bit and slammed his head on the hood of the police vehicle. He wasn't bleeding, they took no pictures of the supposed damage but they did charge him with felony destruction of police property. If you've watched the video the charge was absolute bullshit and it was eventually dropped to some weird almost unrelated misdemeanor.

The point is, I'm sure there was some stupid shit that was going on at whatever place Bridges was arrested and it coming so soon after that drug arrest is pretty fucking dumb. It may have been some horrendous thing that he did but my experience with this shit is they like to charge these guys with felonies so it makes the papers and embarrasses them, when other people would be charged with misdemeanors. I think it's a form of harassment that they do when these famous people act like assholes when they're being arrested and the cops who write up the incident report know that if it was just some dude they would get no satisfaction out of blowing things up just to have the DA drop them back down to where they should have been initially but for a celebrity that the cop sees as an entitled dick, it's a chance to get the word felony and that dick's name in the same headline.

Hmmm i don’t think it’s too much to ask to just not get arrested for fighting with your partner.

How come I’ve never been arrested, or anyone in my inner circle hasn’t been arrested for this.

No need to normalize it with athletes.

Well, I guess that's good that you're doing so well and around healthy people. These athletes are just a cross section of humanity and you're going to get some with problems. A crime is a crime but authorities trying to embarrass celebrities by exaggerating crimes is ridiculous and uncalled for. Also it makes it so these reports are completely irrelevant because we don't know if Bridges was arrested for what should have been noise disturbance or if he did something truly terrible and felonias and the fact that it's the police that are doing this and not the reporters fabricating it that makes it unreliable is pretty troubling to me. To be honest it means that people should be a little slower to pass judgment on these people but that's just my take.

A washed up player that was slowing way down before his injury. Too late to the party on that guy.

He shouldn’t get anything over the minimum.

I don’t know the sitch, nor do I pretend to know the details, but you and I know we were both born with a level of privilege many pro athletes were not born with.

I’m making no excuses for anyone, again, I don’t presume to know any details here, but being born white gives us a lot of freedoms that others are not granted.

Yeah I guess since he was born black he’s kinda fucked.

Personally I’d rather be born with pro level athletic abilities and talent.

sometimes it’s not always about your circumstance, but breaking that cycle. I’ve known many people and heard many stories about people with horrible upbringings and we’re solid respectful citizens.

I think athletes who make these kind of decisions has more to do with narcissism than anything else, just my take

don’t disagree. Just waiting for the real facts of the sitch to come out.

I’m not afraid to admit I’ve been given some free passes over the years being born white. All the while people who were with me that weren’t white were not given the same benefit.

maybe he did some stupid shit. That’s on him. But I don’t think we have the reality of events yet. Maybe we do.

regardless, if I were him, and this big payday is about to come, I’d go hibernate and leave the world. But that’s just me.

Also, white athletes get arrested for this kind of stuff all the time. Who’s the pitcher who just recently got in deep shit. Or the CEO’s or movie producers.

It’s not as much a black/white issue as it is a shitty person/narcissist issue.
