Payton has been an elite defender wherever he’s been, the only thing that changed is golden state saw what he brought and overlooked his weaknesses. It’s how they extract value out of pretty much everyone they acquire. I have zero doubt his defense will translate to Portland, especially when you consider how defensive minded Billups is.

Even Nurk was hitting threes before he was retired last season.

Don't think anyone is saying that. The point made multiple times, was not to expect his impact to be as significant. Again, we will be hardcapped because we needed a player to play defense because our starting guards don't.....yet we are paying them a fortune. Hopefully Chauncey can improve that.

Where's that trade that was so obvious?

Really appreciate you watching, even if you had to turn it off.

This isn't meant as being defensive, even though people will probably take it that way but I want to just explain from our perspective.

Torey and have put in thousands of hours of time into Blazers Uprise over the last 3 years. Outside of a few random donations specifically to me, I haven't received a dime for that work, nor do I ask for it. So yesterday gor example we streamed over 10 hours plus prep time for days leading up. It's a free platform. I'm not a paid professional trying to "make it" in the industry or anything.

I'm just a fan like you who helped build a pretty dang big platform from absolutely nothing. We had 30k views over two streams yesterday. 27k views on our draft stream last week. That annihilates every other similar platform and those have already built in advantages that should lead to them easily beating us if they had comparable content. I say this not to brag or for acknowledgement or anything but we've been told we need to act a certain way or we'll fail and so far that simply isn't true.

I wear my heart on my sleeve. Some people like when we call out rude people. Some people hate it. Totally understandable for any of you to not like it. I don't like in hour 9 of free streaming people coming in and trying to tell us we're wrong and stupid after literally breaking out a spreadsheet and backing up our knowledge. Those same people get their info from the least knowledgeable media in all of sports (Blazers).

If I was actually on a paid radio show, I'm being professional in those situations. On my free YouTube show, after 5 months of people questioning my cap knowledge and telling me they can't wait until I eat my words and then when they're wrong still call me a stupid moron, yeah I'm gonna clap back at some. Again, totally understand if you don't like that. I'll gladly give you a full refund for your money anytime (joke!!!). While I wish everyone liked the show and everything I did, it's just not possible to please everyone so I'm just gonna be myself.

Feel free to continue to give your 2 cents if you ever tune into another show. All feedback is welcome and even though like I said this post will be seen as defensive, I do like to hear what people do and don't like. It's tough when I have more people telling me they like it though. We've tried to cut back on it but we also like live interactions with viewers which is hard to completely avoid trolls and instigators. Anyway, thanks again for watching a little bit and hope you have a good 4th weekend.

The hard cap all but makes this statement moot.

Still could be a small trade for sure. Vanderbilt would be nice. But that type of trade wasn't part of "the obvious plan."

I mean, I didn’t think they would trade Hart either, if that’s what that’s referring to. We’ll see what happens but I wouldn’t bet on this roster being the same as the one in October.

43 minutes played over four (or maybe more) games.

    Sounds about right.

Not worth what Portland is going to be paying him, in any event.

Do you think we should pay that much for a guy who plays 10 minutes a game?

I think he played 10 mins a game because he had all stars in front of him? Like hall of famers?

not even close to the minutes he averaged or will average. But let’s expand on your idea that he’s not worth the money he’s getting paid. His AAV is roughly $9 million.

Here are all the players that made between 9 and 10 million last season

    C579485B-9E0E-4667-97C2-8F8DF2E2C531.jpeg

A lot of quality backup/fringe starter types. So I would argue your claim that he’s not worth what he’s being paid. Looks like he’s being paid correctly, and if anything he may actually be worth more.

So, if other players are overpaid, we should overpay players. Love the logic!

Just like Powell is overpaid so the Clippers deal was a good one getting Keon who now has no minutes left for him.

Ah shit. Everything is gonna be exactly the same because no player has ever gotten more minutes or less minutes being on a new team. Ever. It's all in a vacuum.

    This sucks.

So he is gonna get more minutes with Dame, Ant, Sharpe, Hart, and Keon? I mean, ok. But we aren't gonna win anything so i'd rather those minutes go to Sharpe, Hart and Keon.

It’s going to suck watching him throw down those highlight dunks. Watched several when he played at OSU

In 43 minutes, that quartet of players got up 42 shots. Holy machine gun fire!

I don't have a problem with GP2's annual salary. It's deserved for sure. You can argue maybe not 3 years guaranteed.

The problem I have is with this particular team using one of the few resources they had to pay him that contract and the limitations the hard cap brings because of it.
